Any suggestions? 😀
Derek. I think that's a boy's name. Do I win something?
yeah, actually you do
John.
works for me 😉
Wayne for a boy, Waynetta for a girl.
depends on the surname, surely? As the owner of a name that was popular briefly in the late 60's, I'd say nothing fashionable.
Having said that, we have an Albert and a Wilfred in the extended family, and that fits a short surname very well.
If all else fails, Thomas.
The missus is giving me an evasive "er"
my son's called Cadel...
unusual but not wacky sounding.
Mercedes, so you can brag you own a Mercedes,
Jonah - worked for my first
Llewelyn?
Not joking................. Ernest, it's back , you heard it here first!
Barabbas
or Methuselah?
Bit of an oldie but a goodie.
Always liked Septimus
I think I'll call my next born that
Jedward?
Depends on surname indeed. We two Neil McNeil's at work. Surely the parents would have thought that one through.
I liked Aaron, cos it had 2 'a's. But we ended up calling our boy Lydon. It works.
My son is called Barnaby. He seems to like it, although he's only four months old so I can't be sure.
Zacharias, I actually quite like that, seems to have a good strong sound to it.
Sebastian too.
iBoy
Calel, son of durel has a nice ring to it, or anakin, no one will mess with the dark lord in the playground
+1 foe iBoy
or
Cornelius
thats a good name
Whatever your middle name is (that worked for our first one*) or maybe what your father's name is.
* it has the added advantage of being a simple, ordinary, traditional name, which most people of parental/STW forumite age would think of as being not at all unusual, but hasn't been in the top 100 names for the last 5 years or so (headmaster of his new school reckons he's never had a pupil with that name before) - any guesses?
any guesses?
Is it Adolf ?
Is it Adolf ?
😆
It's not Benito, Francisco or Joseph either (or Ernesto).
It is not Osama is it?
So, AMV, have you just had a baby then?
Jeronimo is a good one.
I wanted to call our son Merlin. Before the popular wizarding tv programme was on.
I have 2 boys.....
Callum & Rory
I also like Fraser or Hamish .
How about Judas? My mate chose that as his Confirmation name. His brother chose El Saeed.
Personally, I like Juan Manuel Fangio Allmountainventure.
An old friend of mine called his son Jasper, after his uncle Jasper who, apparently, was a horse thief.
OOOO names are VERY personal, some suggested above are hideous! So I'm not going to suggest any, as it has to be something your happy with not someone else! Althouhg as mentioned you do have to consider your surname, I went to school with a "christopher Greenshields" did his parents not realise there aren't enough spaces on official paperwork to write that down 😉 and that is without his middle name!!!
Marin?
Cannondale?
Saracen?
I went to school with a "christopher Greenshields" did his parents not realise there aren't enough spaces on official paperwork to write that down
Officialdom failure is hardly the fault of his parents.
My old P.E teacher was called Mary Christina Moss, AKA: Mary Chris Moss. I think she was a boy as she had a beard, you could steal that idea?
Isambard has a certain industrial charm about it.....
I've got a niche one for you if you're interested..
We called our lad Farley.. so there couldn't be any arguments about who's rusks they are..
It also means - 'of the meadow' in old english apparently..
And more importantly it's also the name of
this guy one of the pioneers of chicago house music..
We're calling our next kid 'password' so it's easier to remember for our online banking, forum log-ins etc..
my sons are Luke and Marcus , normal but not super common (as in not lots of kids round here with the same names not common/rough)
Ichabod FTW!
I like Noah.
Sue
Ive just had a girl, but if she had been a boy he would have been Bode.
he would have been Bode.
Bode the cartoon messiah..?
..........
Rik
..........
My son was the first one in his class to be able to spell his name :D.
He has no other (middle) names or anything, just Rik. No need to over complicate things I think.
Also I am dutch, so his name has to work in both languages.
Simone
Fred.
FRED CLOSED.
our lad is called Montgomery. We quite often call him Monty though.
Now we are looking for girls names to go with it.
Mahoganie?
Morpheus

You've just reminded me of The Young Ones... 😆
that poor lad who died from the Polar Bear was called Horatio, his brothers are Titus and Magnus.

Rommel would make a pretty girl's name.
Sam and Joe in this house. (Samuel and Joseph when being told off of course).
Rommel would make a pretty girl's name.
I know some Nazis liked a bit of the ole x-dressing but wast aware Rommel was one of them..I could be wrong.. 😕
But your point is what?
Epic history fail.
🙂
Avoid anything too fashionable or unfashionable, I know first hand how much fun it is to have a crap name at school.
You will probably fret for ages choosing the right name and then never really give it much thought afterwards.
But your point is what?
Sorry mrlebowski, I meant to say Rommela.
I hope it didn't make you too cross.
My little one is due in January. If it's a lad he'll be called either Seth or Noah.
There's a Rommela on Facebook (just googled the name)
We're calling our next kid 'password' so it's easier to remember for our online banking, forum log-ins etc..
The problem there is that "please enter password" takes on a whole new meaning.
Now we are looking for girls names to go with it.
To go with it? They're people, not soft furnishings. Have a word with yourself.
Zachary
Ulysses
Arnold
Fox
Roman
If a girl, only one... Amelie
I followed the Beckhams' idea of naming their kids after the place where they were conceived. Our little Sainsburys is nearly two now.
More seriously,
Harry (there's a shock), Joshua, Jack, Oliver have been the most common boys' names for a few years now, if that's any help.
Ashtray's a boys name!
If we ever had the misfortune to spawn, it'd be Onyxia for a girl, Nefarian for a boy. Nerdism from day one, no compromise!
Although I quite like Zachariah too.
My sister-in-law said that if she wanted a girl, she wanted to call her Eleanor. We said, "You can't call her that!" and she said, "What's wrong? It's a lovely name!"
"Eleanor Rigby? Really?"
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?"
"Beatles song?"
"Oh, never heard of it."
Rudi or Mack
Think of names you hear dogs called and don't pick any of them, simples 😆

Sadly, I understood that. <shuffles away> 😀
We have named crankbrat with my late fathers name as his first name and my wife's fathers as his middle. They are good traditional names Harold and James though we call him Harry for everyday use.
i have the dubious privilege of an unusual made up name? it meant there was never any doubt over who to blame at school and does tend to get me remembered. It also gives me a good line in bollocks when people ask where it comes from.

Have you been to a Dogs Trust centre? All the dogs are called stuff like Dave, Edward and Dillon. Dogs are increasingly given sensible names, giving stupid names to kids is the natural response!
Sadly, I understood that. <shuffles away>
MANY WHELPS. HANDLE IT.
I quite like the idea of giving your kid your middle name, mainly because in our family we have a tradition of giving kids our first names as middle names. You'd get stuck in a loop over generations, but at least you'd never be agonising over choice. But then again, if I was given my mother's middle name, I'd be Alma. Alma. 😐
Apart from my own name being unusual I named my boys Alaric,Fabian and Lyndon
For some reason my wife likes the idea of calling Willard Jnr (assuming it's a boy) Giles. To me it's a bit rural and I hate having it as a middle name (hence why it is never used). She also likes Felix.
Personally, I like Patrick, but that's not going to happen, or so I am told.
Harry (there's a shock), Joshua, Jack, Oliver have been the most common boys' names for a few years now, if that's any help
As above, I'd suggest those are good names to avoid unless you want your son to be one of 3 kids named Jack in his class. But why go for something deliberately unusual which nobody will be able to spell when some perfectly ordinary names like Peter aren't in the top 100?
Have you noticed that chavvy sorts use the same names for kids and dogs? Tyson being the prime example
