Sorry, but Google isn't giving me much, and I suspect if I get a flooring company to come out they may not be objective.

In a nutshell: How easy is it to patch in extra bits of engineered wood flooring?

Our lounge/kitchen/diner is 75% wood, the rest being tile. Ideally we'd like it to be all one type of flooring. Also, we're thinking of removing a bit of wall, so the bit where the wall used to be would need flooring added in.

That's assuming I can find wood to look ok with our quite well worn existing stuff.
Or is it a case of too much hassle and just redo the whole room?

Once you patch it in you can sand it all back and stain to match.
May I suggest getting a wood floor fitter as sanding and staining is more difficult than it looks and you'll be happy at how much quicker and better the job will be when done by a professional

Tricky bit will be finding the same thickness and t/g profile to match in
