My MBP has errors on the HD so I need to boot off another image to repair the HD. However, the MBP came without any media, so I need a bootable DVD for Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549).
Where does one buy/find such a thing?
I'd have a look for a torrent and make one or speak to apple they're usually very helpful
Edit: or failing that I have a copy of 10.6.7 that came with my mbp you can borrow. Email in my profile

hold in apple s as the computer boots, this will get you into single user mode command prompt.
once in(looks like dos) type fsck -fy
fsck=file system check -f=fix y=yes
this is a similar thing to the disk utilty you'll get on the boot disc. worth a go, might fix your issues.

glad to hear, doesn't always work and sometimes you do need to revert to disc, so might be still worth downloading.
