Who the **** was Bernard?? Just finished it and this name popped up right at the end, bit I can't remember (or find) him at all.....

Wasn't he one of the chaps working for Shub to get Darcourt out of custody (via the Guarantor) and back to HMS Black and Decker? He may have been mentioned once or twice but certainly isn't a main character.
It's a while since I read it so could be wrong.....
