Try "The Cruel Sea" Nicholas Montsarrat, I was very surprised, quite unputtdownable !
Currently on this. Lovely little book of cartographic vignettes and history.

Written by the commander of the Sea Harrier squadron on HMS Invincible. It is controversial in parts but well worth reading.
Another vote for Chickenhawk. The Vulcan 607 book's pretty good, too.
