My Vokera boiler is possibly getting on its last legs and has an intermittent fault.
I've had one chap that was recommended come around and promise that he could sort it and it was just a fan issue. He took his £25 cash for his time (beer money for that night probably) and I haven't heard from him since and he doesn't reply to calls or texts. Nice.
Another that I did use no longer seems interested so I'm half tempted to just go official and let Vokera look at it.
The intention in the short term is to replace the boiler but I can't quite afford at this time but fixed price repairs look like they costs the best part of £300 as I can't see them repairing it in the lower price bracket, whether legitimately or stringing it out.
Anyone had any experience of fixed price repairs or alternatively, recommend a gas fitter in Halifax area?

As it happens yes. Who did you use before? - can give you the name of the guy who installed our new boiler if you want.

Snow is good! 😀

Weirdly, a decent plumber is what we're still searching for after 12 years living in Halifax. The last one we used for the boiler in the old house was Brian Slattery - were ok but it seems they must have visited about 15 times before the conclusion was come to that the boiler was knackered. That said, it was because the previous owner of the house (a Halifax based plumber!) had used the wrong size pipes throughout so the boiler was working overtime trying to get enough gas through undersized pipes. All we did in 10 years of being in that house was fix his bodged plumbing jobs.

I wont past names but the £25 call man was a fairly sizeable firm who did boast about his large contracts.
Prior to that was an independent who, when it came him concluding that he didn't know what was wrong with it, I decided against going through the process of speculatively changing parts!

The boiler is 15 years old so I'm feeling it's served me well!!!!
