I want to add 2 standard single radiators into my fully insulated bike cave at the end of the garden 20m from the house. Will the boiler (more specifically the pump) cope?

Here's what I'm currently running:
1. 2 bed semi
2. 3 standard sized double rads
3. 1 towel rad
4. 1 standard sized single rad
5. 2 large sized double rads
6. Ariston Microgenius 27 MFFI combi boiler situated on first floor of house.

I'll be sticking in isolater valves at the house to isolate the bike cave and pipe work if need be. Plus I'll add some flushing valves for good measure.

The pipe work shall be run above ground, insulated and shaded from the UV of the sun.

So will the boiler cope?

the boiler and system will probably cope, but you need to consider pipe size and control. ideally you need a seperate zone for that area with it's own programmable room stat . also how are you going to insulate? not sure anything that you did would protect it against frost in the middle of winter.

It would have F&R isolaters at the house. I would control temperature via a rad stat.

Insulation would be standard pipe insulation and the pipe work would be run in MDPE which should be stronger than copper against frost.

We've just had a new boiler, and had it moved from the kitchen to the garage. The old rad we took out of the kitchen/dining room was plumbed into the garage, just under the coat rack, handily! ๐Ÿ™‚ It hardly cost anything to do it at the time

Put one of these in the cave you would enjoy it a lot more than a rad
recycle an old gas bottle

and be able to brew up on it

standard pipe insulation will be useless as it is not waterproof therefore will hold moisture and actually freeze easier.

not sure if MDPE pipe will put up with the corrosion inhibitor in a heating system, something like a Hep2o pipe would be better and still be less prone to bursting. Still don't think that running it above ground will be a good idea, but you could insulate it then thread it through some of the civils pipework (usually black corrugated pipe).

maybe look at some kind of trace heating tape to prevent frost damage.

Hep2o yes that's what I meant not MDPE. Good point on open cell insulation. I'll look for closed cell/some sort of cover or thermal wrap.
