I have just moved next to the Severn, and would like a rowing boat or a canoe, ideally to fit a family of 4. Can anyone recommend anything? I have seen a boat on here before go for free! But obviously willing to pay so what sort of prices am I looking at?

A canoe over a rowing boat as in a canoe you paddle forward and get to see where you're going. Something along the lines of an Old Town at £700-£800.
