MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Sorry guys more crap but did anyone see the BNP Political broadcast last night with the Asian guy in it.
I personally thought it was a joke, apparently not.
"tens of thousands of old people die of the cold every winter"
really? i'd like to see that backed up.
And they will bring "our boys" home from Afgan now! Thats a bit harsh on the girls isn't it.

Just wait till you see the Con, Lab and Libdem equivalent!

It’s not possible to get worse than that poorly scripted garbage spouted by the BNP.
Just because the BNP said it, doesn't mean it's wrong. Lots of old people do die of the cold in the UK. There is genuine fuel poverty, and there are people who are still pricing everything in their heads as if it's 1972 (ie, my gran).
That Indian chap looked English with some makeup!
I had about 8 cases of hypthermia in one week this winter, yes it was exceptional weather, and I only work in a small rural area. I rekcon every year in the winter I get about 10-12 most of them are afraid of the heating costs.

Tron i'm not disputing your/your Grans experiance, but the ad said 10's of thousands die each winter from the cold. its just not true.
IIRC the estimated figures are around 30k per year.
Yup info here look http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Hypothermia.htm
But then again I suppose you know better.
Zaskar - can you explain how someone "looked English" ?
IIRC the estimated figures are around 30k per year.
Dying of the "cold"? 82 a day?
As a consequence of complications brought on by Hypothermia it's feasible figure.
Just because the BNP said it, doesn't mean it's wrong.
A very good point - *some* people assume that everything they say has to be wrong, has to be evil, can't be considered as sensible policy. I think every party has policies worth listening to.
(Although I do think that some BNP lines are popularist comments designed to make people think they are less extreme than they actually are).
No not Hypothermic, "cold" 81 people a day. At best its being fast and loose with the truth.
Well why don't they go and live in a warmer country then?

No, your hearing what want to hear and looking a fool.
"Sorry guys more crap but did anyone see the BNP Political broadcast last night with the Asian guy in it.

I can't say that I saw it, but every party/public organisation is the same in their literature/advertising. There is always the 'tolken' ethnic minority person to show that all people are included IMO the main parties are no different.
However I did listen to a fantastic interview with Nick Griffin on Radio 4 last week. He's going to ban all imports, and actually said in time he would, and I quote.. "reutrn all Muslims to where they came from"
I think the BNP are referring to 'excess winter mortality'. Death rates are higher in winter - in 2009/9 this resulted in an estimated excess of around 37,000 deaths in England and Wales (compared to what would have been expected given the death rates during the rest of the year). Most of the excess occurs in the elderly.
It is overly simplistic to say this is due solely to people dying (directly) of cold (i.e. hypothermia). The biggest excesses are seen in respiratory diseases, circulatory diseases, and injuries.
I think every party has policies worth listening to.
I can understand why you might say this, but I think this is naive in the extreme when talking about the BNP.
They have some apparently acceptable policies, these are designed to add an air of respectability to their fascist, anti-islam, blame the evil immigrant rhetoric.
I watched the broadcast last night, it was dispicable the way they blatently used islamic imagery when talking about what is wrong with this country, the calculating misuse of images of Churchill, someone elses medals in the background etc and hasn't the Sikh guy already been discredited because of alleged Sikh and Hindu extremists aligning themselves with the BNP on an anti-islamic agenda?
They don't offer any solutions only hatred and fear, anyone thinking of voting for them after last night's nauseating display should seek psyciatric help.
Old people die of stupid things. Something like 40% of old people will kick the bucket if you move them from one care home to another.
Speshpaul, I suggest you start writing to the ONS and inform them that their figures are wrong:
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=574
Old people just die more when they're cold. It's not so much to do with actually dying of hypothermia as things like their joints stiffening up, causing them to have a lot more falls in their homes.
Something like 40% of old people will kick the bucket if you move them from one care home to another.
got a source for that statistic?
Anyway, it was the BNP who stated that 10s of thousands of old people die of the cold each year

Party Political Broadcast[/url]
Um, a conversation with a dementia specialist that I had 4 or 5 years ago. The word "about" is used as I can't remember the exact percentage.
The LibDem broadcast on C4 had Nick Clegg littering all over Sheffield. dirty bugger.
drac Tron, sorry kids, no where in those stats does it say that those people died of "Cold" which was the BNP claim. Thats what is being disputed.
Tron, thanks for the careers advice. But its about as useful as you 40% die if moved comment you quoted from fat bloke down the pub.
What about the link I posted on hypothermia you know what causes hypothermia of course. Funny I remember your the same guy that knew more than a high court judge and ambulance driving regulations.
The number of extra deaths occurring in winter varies depending on temperature, the level of disease in the population, and other factors.
They're obviously referring to those killer unseasonably warm winters.
However you cut it, I'm not looking forward to being old!
Re the Sikh in the BNP ad - why did he do it? That must be about the best way to make yourself unpopular I can imagine.
I can understand why you might say this, but I think this is naive in the extreme when talking about the BNP.
Not naive at all, simply open to listening to what everyone has to say and able to make my own mind up about what I choose to think is sensible policy or not. I feel too many people simply refuse to believe they have anything pertinent to say simply because 'they are the BNP innit'. I haven't said that I think anything I have heard them say IS sensible policy, I have just said I am able to listen and form my opinion based on what I am hearing, not on any pre-conceived notion of what they stand for.
And the same can be said for any political party and their policies.
Well put mf
+1 MF
Well said that man.
Nothing at all wrong with listening, I watched the broadcast last night because I too want to know what they are saying, know thy enemy and all that... đŸ™‚
But my issue really was with this:
I think every party has policies worth listening to.
Which policies does the BNP have that are worth listening to then?
I haven't said that I think anything I have heard them say IS sensible policy
Oh đŸ™„
I think I might have found myself the victim of a badly-worded first post đŸ™‚
mastiles_fanylion
The BNP are a joke there policies are a joke no sensible person would take them seriously.
"Nick Griffin's manifesto reveals a party keen to turn voters into supporters of a racially 'pure' Britain, 'bound together by blood'"
This is a quote from the Guardian have a read.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/apr/27/bnp-manifesto-launch-nick-griffin
Well, the only thing I remember from watching it was that thousands of poor old people die due to women in burkas. Oh, and I think some foreign flag had something to do with it.
>The LibDem broadcast on C4 had Nick Clegg littering all over Sheffield. dirty bugger.
On the version broadcast darn sarf, he was littering London also - double the filth!
I think I might have found myself the victim of a badly-worded first post
I tell you something, when I first did one of those on-line, who should I vote for things, when I came to click 'see results' I was sweating a bit that I might have picked any BNP policies, that would have been pretty embarressing! (I got 25% Cons, 25% Lab, 25% LibDem and 25% green, very helpful!)
The BNP are a joke there policies are a joke no sensible person would take them seriously.
Would you prefer just one party to choose from?
Having parties with differing views helps spark debate, which in turn helps move a society forward.
Feel free to ignore someone if you don't like what they belive in though đŸ˜‰
Oh come on Sofatester you must know we have more than one political party in this country.
Why would any sensible person debate with the BNP have you seen the majority of BNP supporters, have you seen BNP wives?
If the BNP is your thing then fine go for it but most people, In this country are way to sensible to even give them the time of day.
Yeah but there is a real risk that they will win a seat in Stoke, any pride the potteries once had will be long gone if that happens.
Oh come on Sofatester you must know we have more than one political party in this country.
Read the post again, as I think you have misunderstood what i typed*
*Unless you where being ironic of course đŸ˜‰
The BNP are a joke there policies are a joke no sensible person would take them seriously.
But in order for me to make that decision for myself I have to listen to what they have to say for myself, not base my opinions on what the media have to say about them. And the same can be said for all parties. After all, how did you decide they are a joke? Because you decided for yourself or because the Daily Mail made you do it?
have you seen the majority of BNP supporters, have you seen BNP wives?
Sound basis on which to base your voting preference. đŸ™„
This good enough for you?\
