I have some Blu Rays that I'd like to rip and have available to watch on other devices so looking for an external Blu Ray (BD-ROM?) drive for my PC. Won't be used too often so not too bothered about performance (so cost conscious), anything I need to look out for which might catch me out?

Would these seem suitable? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Slimline-External-portable-desktop-computers/dp/B001PLBI8Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1357225039&sr=8-4 ] or Blu Ray 2

Why external? No drive bays free / laptop?

I do have some bays free. But as we have a PC and between us 4 laptops I thought external might be more useful.

I think if it were me, I'd want to use one as a 'base', rather than have images scattered about the place. An external optical drive is always useful to have if you've got netbooks and things without DVD drives, of course.

I think it would end up mainly sitting on top of the PC, so I get your point.

Doable but you'll need shedloads of disk space for the initial rip - even if you reduce size/quality later - and the faster the PC the better, could take days on the average laptop, laptop killer!
