Brilliant stuff on the Sarkozy Burka Business posting. I'm absolutely against ALL religions which only exist because people have no ability to think independently and are basically insecure.

The very fact that the devout followers cannot even get their interpretations of the bible agreed suggests to me that they make it up as they go along. The fact that people actually subscribe to the sh*te that kimbers points to and then change the translation / interpretation to suit their own beliefs is evidence that religion has no place in modern society.

I mean has anyone actually seen a Bl**dy miracle? I once had a mate in a Mental Hospital in Glasgow who was convinced he was Jesus but did anyone take him seriously? He sounded plausible to me but he couldn't do the loaves and fishes thing. That was possibly the problem (perhaps he was having an off day). Religion to me is summarised by the microcephalic Rangers/Celtic fan at the Old Firm game pouring out the usual torrent of abuse where every second word is either F****ng C*nt or ******r.

Sunday is for biking, reading the papers and having a nice bottle of Shiraz with the lamb. We need to follow Sarkozys example and ban all religions.

Only then will the world be a better place.

I'm too ill for this one, an' all. 🙁

Suffice to say, your argument is naive, ignorant, weak and far too simplistic.

I bid you Good Day.

Hey RudeBoy

"suffice to say, your argument is naive, ignorant, weak and far too simplistic."

That's the sort of content and argument free response that is typical of those I refer to in the post.

I don't do naive, ignorant, weak & simplistic stuff. Bet I've got more degrees than you in any case

Oooh! Get her!

Sunday is for biking, reading the papers and having a nice bottle of Shiraz with the lamb. We need to follow Sarkozys example and ban all religions.

Some religions have days other than Sunday, for religious observance...

The internet is used to spread all sorts of filthy porn, and fraudulent scams. Ban the internet?

Please just stop and have a think, next time your knee jerks.

So is this :

"ALL religions which only exist because people have no ability to think independently .................We need to ........ ban all religions."

So castigate people for not thinking for themselves. And then force them to accept your beliefs.

Now I'd have been prepared to reason and argue with you right up till the point of you saying "I've got more degrees than you"

I had a friend who told me that "of course I have a degree" once. I've consistently earnt more than him every year for the past ten years without his degree. One day perhaps, I'd love to sit down and finish my education which I was unable to do when I was younger due to family issues, but until then I shall continue to be one of the uneducated plebs!

I don't do naive, ignorant, weak & simplistic stuff.

Did you get a ghost writer to do your first post then, or has someone hacked your account?

How is it not naive, ignorant, weak and simplistic to say:

"Religion to me is summarised by the microcephalic Rangers/Celtic fan at the Old Firm game pouring out the usual torrent of abuse where every second word is either F****ng C*nt or ******r."

Very low quality trolling, sir. Suggest rather more subtlety and nous. Or just facing up to not being capable of forming a coherent argument.

If you start mandating "coherent argument" as a prerequisite for posting on STW you'll kill the site off.

Loads of people disagree with you pallyally. Either you will get-it one-day, or you wont. Meanwhile put a sock in it.

Alternatively go out in the shopping mall on a Saturday morning and convert the shoppers to athei-schism. Personally, I bet you can't be bothered.

Then why did you initially post something that was naive, ignorant, weak and simplistic?

Slighlty biased against Islam or any other religion so I have no useful comment except their religion states for women to dress appropriately which basically means anything!

More a way of life and values not just a religion-guess that's why I can't stand any religion. Well done the French.

Like I said no useful comment from me lol. 😈

Well done the French

It's not 'The French' who are proposing this; it's a jumped up little Right-Winger who fancies himself as the next Putin or Berlsconi.

Like I said no useful comment from me

Well, you got that bit right! 😀

RudeBoy

Actually you need to get up to speed on French politics on this.

Since the Revolution, the French State is committed by law to being secular. That means that nothing in the activities of the French government can permit or promote religious sectarianism.

So, actually, it is THE FRENCH, through their constitution, who are proposing this. Sarkosy is merely, as is his duty, promoting the French constitution.

God I wish we had the same freedoms

He's a nasty little shit-stirrer anyway. Ask Juan...

God I wish we had the same freedoms

What, to take away other people's freedoms? Yeah, cos that makes a load of sense... 🙄

Sarkozy is neither Muslim, nor female, therefore does not in any way have the right to demand Muslim women lose the veil. That should be their choice, and their choice alone. He's entitled to his onion, but that's it.

That means that nothing in the activities of the French government can permit or promote religious sectarianism.

So explain to me how a woman popping down to the shops wearing her burqa, represents 'the activities of the French government'.

Anyone may freely wear a crucifix in public, but they may not wear one in a French school. Because whilst the French state remains secular, people are free to follow their religions in whichever they choose.

Rudy is absolutely right, Sarkozy is 'a jumped up little Right-Winger who fancies himself' and who is personally unpopular with the French electorate.

Can find please for me; bit in French Constipation, where it says individuals aren't allowed to wear any religious or cultural items at all? Thank you kindly.

That's because French schools are "activities of the French government", whereas popping down to the shops isn't. DURRRRRRR!

In this country, my ability to go shopping is restricted only by free market conditions, except on Sunday, when it's limited by Christians

Exactly.......... by jove, I think he's got it ! 😀

That is why the French constitution may ban the wearing of the burqa in schools, but not for 'popping down to the shops'.

Here you are, you horrible little mysoginist:

La loi garantit à la femme, dans tous les domaines, des droits égaux à ceux de l’homme.

Now tell me where it says men have to cover their faces, or their hair, or their entire bodies

Now tell me whre it says men have to have their wives permission to leave the house, drive a car

You're a pathetic troll - get under the bridge

LOL @ eldridge ! ! !

The French constitution guarantees the right of women to dress like men ! ! !

So therefore the burqa is illegal ! ! !

And YOU said : "You're a pathetic troll - get under the bridge" LOL !

Ernie

You trivialise the point. French law doesn't just give women the right to dress like men - it gives women the SAME RIGHTS in everything as men.

It recognises that there are places where that is difficult to enforce - like in the family, or in the street.

But it also recognises that there are places where the state can use its muscle to GUARANTEE women's rights.

Women who persist in adopting traditions which repress and limit them have a simple choice - don't work for or get involved in French State institutions - go work elsewhere.

Women who want to cast off mysoginistic restrictions can go work for the French State and experience freedom

FFS why would bras be illegal in France?

Unless Jock Straps were too!

Feeble intellects like yours, however, need all the support they can get!

don't work for or get involved in French State institutions - go work elsewhere.

So you now want to change the argument because you find yourself in a hole eh ?

You know very well that the burka/Sarkozy story has nothing whatsoever to do with working for the French State. And Sarkozy wasn't suggesting that those women wishing to wear the burka should simply 'work elsewhere'.

You know very well that Sarkozy was calling for a bar on French Muslim women from covering their faces in public.

Interesting that you should try to shift the argument into a completely different area. But not that interesting ....... I'm off.

You know very well

Twice in the same post!

How do you know what I know very well?

Interesting that you should try to shift the argument into a completely different area. But not that interesting ....... I'm off.

This is identical in tone and content to what my adolescent daughter says when she's losing the argument:

"Whatever, Dad. (Sound of door slamming)"

How do you know what I know very well?

Well I had, maybe erroneously, assumed that you had actually read the story 😕

It didn't even occur to me that someone might very strong opinions on a news story which they hadn't even bothered reading 😀

.

This is identical in tone and content to what my adolescent daughter says when she's losing the argument:

"Losing the argument" ? That's how you see it, isn't it ...... "winning" or "losing" an argument ?

Small details such as, knowing what you're talking about, been actually correct, and understanding the facts, don't really come into it, do they - eh ?

So I react in the same way as your daughter does, when she is confronted by an ill-informed person who likes to argue into the small hours of the morning over an issue which they don't understand/know the facts - ie :
'I can't be arsed anymore' ?

Well ....... there's a surprise :rolls eyes:
