Avian Mortal Kombat 😉

Its a fight for control for the left and right side of the garden. The one with the tuft is Kier (Left) and Boris on the right.

Boris lost on this occasion.

You appear to have dry slabs. This film cannot be recent.

And all this antisocial behaviour occurred in front of a statue of St Francis of Assisi who is depicted with a bird lovingly perched on his hand (2.28)?

Shocking.

I dunno - the weeds have obviously had enough water to be growing well.

@thepurist

Weeds have a bad press. Unwanted plants, in some peoples eyes.

If I had my way the garden would be even more ragged. Mayby it is already.

Pretty much the principle I’m working to, a garden largely based on minimum intervention on my part, including not mowing the grass very often, if at all, I’m trying to encourage lots of native flower/hay meadow plants, like campion, ragged Robin, yellow rattle, ox-eye daisies, etc. I’ve already got cowslips and primroses taking over.
As far as the blackbirds are concerned, there appears to be one main pair who regard my garden as the centre of their territory, although they don’t nest in it; in April they had three fully fledged young with them, and there seemed to be two other adult males, and possibly another adult female, things only got a bit fractious when one of the other adults got a bit too close to a fledgling, and voices were raised…!
Most noise comes from the starling and sparrow families, noisy wretches, squabbling over the feeders full of suet pellets and mealworms!

I love blackbirds, they're gorgeous little fellers, sound nice, usually well kept and well mannered. Not these two though
