I know I know, I missed the beginning too. IPlayer later hopefully.
Incredible story of the Black Panthers. Some parts show the US has gone backwards... thankfully not all.
A must watch anyway. Storyville, as all the best documentaries are.
Caught a bit of it, coincidentally the Stuff You Should Know podcast did an episode on this last week which I also listened to. Amazing story. Really shows you what a mad, bad, wild place the US was (still is) Brandishing rifles/shotguns in a courtroom being legal?! Also shows the US can do gun control when it wants!! Don’t know if they covered the corruption of the FBI & the (alleged) assassination by them of the BP leader in the telly prog (they did in the podcast), really shows how entrenched in the establishment racism is in the US.
Took to lunch a former FBI operative who had subsequently gone off the rails. The conversation I had with him and his book he was promoting made me realise that at that time in the late sixties / early seventies that the FBI had a mindset of total belief in their boss. Especially the president. He took that mindset with him to his next job.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll watch it on iPlayer later
