Ordered a pair of wheels from Bikester which are being sent from Germany... UK VAT was paid so I was expecting maybe an import duty or something which I was fine with. Got dispatch email with UPS tracking, two parcels (I guess one for each wheel but the weights seem a little off - one 3kg and one 2.5kg - the wheels supposedly weigh about 1Kg each buyt I suppose there could be 1kg of packing on each wheel). Trouble is, according to UPS tracking one is returning to sender because of "a missing commercial invoice" and the other has an "exception because of a Brexit related disruption".
Anyone ordered anything from Bikester recently and had any similar issues?
I have emailed them obv but got no response as yet...
Had a delivery from Bikester via UPS a couple of weeks ago. No sign of any extra charges. Took a couple of days longer than usual. Someone opened the commercial invoice for a look. But Bikester website says VAT already included and the invoice says delivery duty paid.
Seems like there is a right royal c*** up with my order.. Hhmph.
Prior to Brexit I ordered a set of Crank Bros wheels from them. the box was labelled wrong and one of the wheels was incorrect as a result, the other was also out of spec (146mm hub?)
If they are that bad in normal times, I can only imagine. partly my fault for buying Crank Bros, but their internal labelling was all messed up, zero faith now as I know how hard it is getting product into the EU, has to be spot on or it’s just going to be sent back or you’ll end up with a big bill
So neither of my two wheels have made it out of Germany One has already been returned to sender because of incorrect paperwork and they said they can't resend it (I could order again but I'm not going to chance it). The second is still in Germany but is delayed due to Brexit related issues - whatever that means, probably paperwork again. I'm going to refuse it if it does turn up.
So I went to my LBS to see if they could come up with anything and they have offered to build me a set of DT 511s with XT hubs for £430. Not sure if that's a good price or not but beggars can't be choosers I suppose....
Probably should have gone there first tbh..
