Hullo!
Moving into a new rented flat and we need contents insurance as part of the tenancy deal.
Co-op will give us a year covering contents, accidental damage, £50 excess, and bikes in the house and away from the house (up to £1000 per bike as many bikes as we like) all for £150.
Other places covering similar (MandS, Natwest...) seem to be about £300.
Are we missing something? Does anyone have experience of the co op deal? Or any other suggestions?
Cheers! 🙂
that looks like either a great deal or a mistake. Go through the policy in detail and see if theres anything missing that you'd need.
By 'as part of the tenancy deal' does that mean that you are required to insure the landlords possessions as well as your own? M&S includes 'Tenant's liability' upto about £40k with their policy.
Ive just checked mine on the phone.
Im not covered for more than a £500 for the bike away from the home - does anyone use a 3rd party bike insurance for damage, loss. theft away from the home.
Evans cycles want 350 a year, thats more than my house insurance. For £2800 bike.
M&S, just £120 for us on their Premier policy with unlimited home/away cover. Cheaper than my old policy, which had no bike cover, but did cover stuff away under a all-risks policy.
Standard cycle cover worked out at £453pa!
Use M&S, ours is about £120 with 4k's worth of bikes, up to 4k on an individual bike.
Some pikeys stole our bikes out of the garage a few years ago, M&S had like for like replacements with us less than a week after we had the crime number.
MandS quoted me about twice as much as that :s not sure whats going on there!
Went with co op, it was all right - no mistakes on the first quote. Covers red wine spillages on the landlords carpet too, lol.
Thanks guys 🙂
Insurance through Nationwide covers bikes. Has the option of "pedal cycles away from home" too.
Is the M&S insurance you mention just for bikes or for full contents cover?
Bikes are included under the contents policy.
