I have a desktop on the top floor with tB of films, TV, music etc. I can access music through itunes via homesharing and play it on our MBP / Apple TV.
We have an Android box in our media room ( 🙂 ) and would be great to use it to access the files on the PC in the same way as Win 10's Home Group or similar.
All connected via LAN.

Plex is great, but a bit picky about directory structures and filenames.
I use Serviio myself.

Plex is bloated and resource/memory hungry.
Try BSplayer free on the Android.

Bubble PnP works very well also and is a little easier than Plex

Can you put Kodi on the Andorid player. Works simply for me on the PC
