You can pick the earlier versions of Call of Duty up pretty cheap now modern warfare 2 is out.

MW2 is the first pc game ive bought in 8 or 9 years. Its pretty much taken up my spare time. Online multiplayer is the future.

I've just finished replaying MoH and have started on the Spearhead expansion pack. A great blast from the past 🙂

If that's your thing, then take a look at any from the Call of Duty series.

Sign up for steam and download a few demos. Can't beat them for online multi player. Games I paid for years ago it remembers and I can download again on my latest PC.

Cheap, I can suggest free.

Do a search for Wolfenstein Enemy Territory on Google, it totally free and is a brilliant multiplayer FPS.

The original far cry is amazing. Half life, half life two are equally astounding games

Anything more modern like Bioshock is going to push your computer a bit too far I suspect if you're not really into gaming and have made the appropriate graphics investment,

Nexuiz - Free and good for a 1/2 hour of just jumping into an online instant frag session. Fits the lunch hour perfectly. Anything more complex is likely to be better, but draw you in for much longer 😉

THE FPS game, bar none. free. runs in your browser window. polished up and fully supported by ID. lots of servers. so well balanced it's nasty.

I'm in a similar boat, half an hour here, an hour there - I'd say Orange Box as well- there's enough in there to keep me going for an eternity and if you fancy a change from shooting stuff then Portal, another game in the box is an absolute cracker.

If you want to add some strategy/RPG elements to your shoot-em up then take a look at Fallout 3.

I don't think there are any free downloads available (because the map is open and therefore too big to contain in a sensible download), so you'll need to buy it. £15 or so on ebay, or £20+ for the GATY edition with all the expansion packs. Have been playing it for a couple of weeks and it's pretty ****ing cool.

cool, have been looking at half life, may give that a try.... dont think my old Dell is going to cope with anything new...although my mate did upgrade it for me with 2 stick thingies, makes it faster apparently....

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl with a few mods thrown at it. It's not quite as good at the shooting as halflife etc, but the feel of the game is just incredible. The sequel Clear Skies is a bit broken unfortunately, it's better in some ways but worse in others.

If BF2 wasn't so full of h4x I'd reinstall it.

Does it still get regular PB updates or did they stop years ago?

Do you ever play this on-line? I could never get it to connect to the servers. Great game though.

No idea Bling, they recently released 1.5 patch though which includes the booster packs and J10/F35B balancing.

Might be the reason if it's increased in popularity again, especially as the J10/F35B thing was pissing so many folk off?

I'm downloading now anyway, 1.85GB's worth of updates - now where's that joystick... 8)
