7 of us staying at the Hawkshead YHA next weekend and need somewhere for food and a couple of beers.

I know there's a few pubs but which one would you recommend?

I agree, Stu. But maybe not a round of barley wine after 8 or 9 rounds of Bluebird. Then trying to ride back to Coniston at midnight in December. It makes the descent from Lawson Hope a bit tricky.

Yep. Kings Arms. Cosy and good grub.

Try not to ride into a drystone wall afterwards, at about 20mph.

Have spent the last few Christmas Eves at the Sun Inn and it has always been fun. Can’t vouch for any other time of the year.

Having been turned away 3 times at that pub when trying to book an evening meal ..on principal I just wouldn't give then a penny of my money anytime in the future ..( camping 2015 & 2016.)
However it looks to be the best of the bunch ..
Hope you have more luck than we did ..

Cuckoo Brow Inn in Far Sawrey. Followed by a wobbly descent of Claife Heights back to Hawkshead.

Or Tower Bank Arms in Near Sawrey, for that matter.
