Ride of the year, Ling, apparently
Bit early innit?
Can't we wait until the new forum appears in the New Year 😀
not sure if its a bit early. Most papers etc seem to be doing their 'best of' now.
mine then:
Ride of the year. last day of the season at Åre bike park. 10cm snow at the top, snowy/muddy carnage that was just hilarious
Thread of the Year: ski and Snowboard, always amusing laughing at skiers. joke! lots of knowledge and 'stoke' there. maybe the Sick bikes one actually, that was amusing.
TV
Handmaids tale by a mile. Utterly brilliant
Album
late entry, Fever Ray plunge
thought it was gonna be LCD for a long time but no..
Film
by being the only film I saw this year, Get Out
Other*
ordering my first new bike for 5 years. If you don't include the bike I bought last year 🙂
Best thread? The one where I ended up getting my bike back thanks to assorted forum members. 😀
Ride - BPW with DezBJr
Thread - Tune association like every year 😛
TV - Tin Star
Album - ..hmm.. probably, A7PHA - "A7PHA"
Film - War on Everyone
Other* - first brand new full build mtb ever bought.

Nobody else liked anything this year?
Thread would have got a bigger (maybe not better) response if it had been titled BOTY
War on Everyone is good but it doesn’t make the best of the year, mostly as it was 2016.
I saw it this year and a mag had it in it's list for 2017, so it's mine. Cheers for **** all though eh.
Ride : Hamsterley with Hodgy Jr.
+ Cairngorms week away in May with mates.
Thread : none in particular
Album : In Spades ..Afghan Whigs / To The Bone ..Steven Wilson ..cant split them !
TV : Current Peaky Blinders
Film : none stands out ..
Other: Family time
Future wish : PCP Partners takeover of Newcastle United is concluded swiftly and we finally get rid of Ashley ..with better times to come
Interesting list, thank you hodgynd
Grump of 2017: DezB
Ride : Erm
Thread : Ling
Album : Biosphere - The Petrified Forest
TV : The Good Place (Had a shitty year, so going for something lighthearted. Also Season 2 aired 2017 for the pedants)
Film : The Villainess
Other: Nope

Drac gonna Drac.
Ride: Not done one
Thread: None Spring to mind
Album: Can pick from a previous year if I listend to it this year?
TV: Sneaky Pete
Film: Blade Runner 2049
well that’s it so far but still a few weeks left.
Drac gonna Drac.
🙄
Ride/trail: Agrifoglia, Molini with Rivierabike. Best trail I've ever ridden and i rode it fairly well (and didn't die!)
Moment: launching off a 4' drop I've looked at but bottled for 5 years
Thread: Ling. Absolute genius - we should invite her to to contribute to a thread once a month
TV - Person of Interest. Stranger Things s1 a very close second
Event - Ard Rock
Trail Centre: BPW but Hamsterley a solid second, esp the DH uplift staff
Tool: Hayes brake calliper alignment tool here, closely followed by Knipex pliers and a Wera ratchet spanner
Film: Last Jedi, but that might have to wait until I see it tomorrow!
Frustration: continuing abysmal QC and reliability of dropper posts (apart from my original A1 reverb)
Horror: Trump
At least I won something.
At least I won something.
😆
album: Can pick from a previous year if I listend to it this year?
Sure as long is it isn't Michael Bolton or something.
Ling...? What did I miss?
Nothing surprise me this year apart from ... 🙄
Best find of the year: ??????? (Pelageya)
What a beautiful powerful voice. 😛
Russian folk music.
Ling...? What did I miss?
You kinda had to be there, but here you go:

Hmm, Norwegian ambient or Russian Folk... which one shall I check out...

Hmm, Norwegian ambient or Russian Folk... which one shall I check out...
Norwegian ambient are so so as I think I have already checked them out.
Other good finds are: (very middle east pop music plus traditional)
Abdulla Harki (mostly wedding but check those people out!)
Omar Souleyman (interesting lyrics)
Best dance of the year.
TV - Person of Interest.
PoI is ace.
At least I won something.
There are no winners here.
Hmm, Norwegian ambient or Russian Folk... which one shall I check out...
Depends what sort of mood you're in.
There are no winners here.
Correct.
Yet again I failed to secure the Pretend Internet Comedy Panther of the Year award.
Maybe next year.
Best listen to them when your mind is settled. i.e. quiet and not thinking too much.Jamie - Member
Depends what sort of mood you're in.Hmm, Norwegian ambient or Russian Folk... which one shall I check out...
Then enjoy the culture ... 😛
Yet again I failed to secure the Pretend Internet Comedy Panther of the Year award.
It's a strongly contested position.
- Cougar.
Yep, that Tiger6791 is a funny guy.
I miss his dog though. 😥
Ling...? What did I miss?
The brightest lights burn for the shortest time...
Yet again I failed to secure the Pretend Internet Comedy Panther of the Year award.
Hearty congratulations to Pointypanther though, laugh a minute stuff from him!
Depends what sort of mood you're in.
Seriously! How the flip do you know about that?? 😯
TV: Mindhunter
Album: Party by Aldous Harding (also best gig)
Film: Bladerunner 2049 (unless I can have a DezB then it's Hunt For The Wildepeople)
Thread: Ling, obvs
(unless I can have a DezB then it's Hunt For The Wildepeople)
Ha! But that got voted for in 2016, mine didn't!
For me the thread was between:

TV - aint seen owt to get excited about
Album - Might be Gnod - Just say no to the psycho right wing capitalist industrial death machine, or maybe Richard Dawson - Peasant
Film Not seen any new films
Anything else? Yoga with Yoga Dave and Kay and life in general
I'd happily missed the Ling thread completely until clicking on this thread.
..2hrs later and i'm not even half way through the Ling thread...lucky it was a quiet day.
I'd happily missed the Ling thread completely until clicking on this thread
I'm desperately trying to remember the name of the bike company one that ran it a very close second..
(unless I can have a DezB then it's Hunt For The Wildepeople)Ha! But that got voted for in 2016, mine didn't
Fair point! 🙂
I'd happily missed the Ling thread completely until clicking on this thread.
Bail about 60-70% through, as it goes downhill fast.
If Ling from Ling's Cars is scanning the internet for mentions of the name Ling, or Ling's Cars then I have a question for Ling, but not about Ling's Cars.
Is that Ling with a hard or soft "L"?
Ling was tough going but the website is a game changer
Drac - ModeratorGrump of 2017: DezB
Somewhere in Canada, Alanis Morissette just spontaneously combusted.
Ride of the year: Local trails, new baby so no trail parks this year.
Thread of the Year: uuni pizza oven one...it made be buy one and its awesome
TV: Detectorists and Peaky Blinders
Album: Dark Sky - Othona
Film: Surprisingly thought the new Thor was hilarious, but it was done by the guy who brought us "Hunt for the Widerpeople" and "What they do in the shadows"....so not that surprising really.
Ride - Ard Rock
Film - I thik I saw Rogue One this year - so that.
TV - Toss up between Mindhunter and Stranger Things S2. I've always been a bit 'meh' about PoI so will have to give that some more time after comments above.
Album - I've not listened to anything new at all this year. Which is sad.
Thread - Got to be gnusmas' front light thread. http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/cheap-front-light-to-help-me-be-less-depressed
Other - Would have been finally moving to the Peak District, but my stupid time wasting buyer has scuppered that until the new year. So it will have to be *nearly* moving to the Peak District.
Isto.. 😆
Was making your new baby on your local trails your ride of the year ..?
Nice one ...
Album - I've not listened to anything new at all this year. Which is sad.
Very! Find something on this here thread
Thanks Dez, I'm going to give that a go. 🙂
Hodgynd - that would have been last years ride of the year 😀
OP was right
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/nov/30/the-50-best-tv-shows-of-2017
in a very Guardian way 🙂
Ride. Not the one at BPW where I suffered a Radial Head Fracture. Probably a solo trip up and down The Cobbler in the summer.
Film. Blade Runner 2048 so close, but on reflection eclipsed by Baby Driver.
TV. Taboo for trying to do something a bit different with BBC1 prime time. Honourable mentions for Peaky Blinders, Detectorists and American Gods.
Album. Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band. Big Machine.
Thread. One of the few who hasn't read Ling, but it seems pretty unanimous so I'll go along with it.
it seems pretty unanimous
It's not. I didn't like the woman at all. I understand why people enjoyed it, but nah, not me.
OP was righthttps://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/nov/30/the-50-best-tv-shows-of-2017
Interesting (except Gogglebox) - Chewing Gum was a funny comedy if no-one saw it. Not as funny as Vice Principals, which would be my comedy of the year (US version anyway). It was mental - Walton Goggins is amazing.
Ride: On the beach in Norfolk with my Sons.

Baby driver we are planning on watching over Christmas so that could overtake.some good tips here
ROTY I'll bend the rules and make it weekend of the year on the bike: had conjunctivitus but despite that a Friday afternoon at a hot and dry Forest Of Dean, a Saturday at BPW in the dust and then a scorcher of a lap around Cannock on the way home was a great weekend. Zero mud, short sleeves, great friends - everything it should be. To be honest, its one of the very few occasions I've ridden outside of Calderdale this year. Something I need to fix in 2018.
TOTY: no idea. I don't read much on here anymore as its all wood burners and cross bikes. Wood burners I have one so I don't need to read about them and cross bikes are work of the devil.
AOTY: don't think I've listened to any new music this year but its been the year I 'discovered' the Eagles Of Death Metal so I'll say anything by them.
FOTY: The Last Jedi even though I've not seen it yet. The only other time I've been to the cinema this year was for the Lego Ninjago Movie and that was shit.
TVOTY: Octonauts never fails to impress especially given the monumental demise of Fast N Loud since AK left.
Baby driver we are planning on watching over Christmas so that could overtake.some good tips here
Don't expect anything deep will you?! 😆
One of our guests is studying for a PhD in film at Stockholm university so I think it'll be right up her street. Or not
