So, Which films that were released this year would you say were worth watching?
Went to see Prisoners last week which I thought was awesome.
Also I enjoyed World War Z and Olympus Has Fallen.
Any others I should watch?
Prisoners for me.
You could watch 'which forum you're posting in!'
๐
Other than that I have nothing constructive to add.
World War Z and Olympus Has Fallen.
if you liked them, anything should please you. ๐
welcome to STW.
just come out of blue jasmine, very good, much better than I was expecting
I enjoyed Despicable Me 2
Used to be the biggest film fan but can't watch a film since I started watching breaking bad. It's ruined films for me. Unbelievably brilliant. Like the godfather but better.
I really enjoyed star trek- into darkness, one of the best hollywood blockbusters I've seen, in full on brain melting 3d imax. That's judging it for what it is, mind, if you want gay cowboys eating pudding you'd want to look elsewhere.
I'm looking forward to the 40 minute long Hobbit director's cut, with no frodo, no weird second start, no rabbits, and about 95% less fighting, smoking weed, and bloomin storm giants. That'll be good.
Only god forgives? One of those pointless yet thoughtfull art peices that doesnt give the viewer all (if indeed any) answers.
Dispicable me 2 was good.
i thought now you see me was a good one this year and also welcome to the punch.
Filth
+1 to plus one. Filth is an outstanding piece of cinema.
Have also enjoyed The World's End, Star Trek and Elysium this year.
Mud , really enjoyed it, top film
Mud is brilliant.
Blue Jasmine.
Lawless and The Place Beyond The Pines
Great
Django unchained - excellent
Oblivion - nice twist
+1 for Django. Forgot about that one (more accurately, thought it was last year).
+2 for Django
Warm Bodies. Seriously. It has plenty of faults, but it was original and I think that counts for a lot. It also has my only memorable quote of the year. "Nailed it!". I really didn't expect to enjoy it, but warmed to it more and more.
There was a twist at Oblivion? Thought it was obvious, personally. My second best of the year.
I'm looking forward to the sequel of that great classic Machete.
It's called Machete Kills and there will be another sequel, Machete Kills - Again.
Pure classic literature on film. ๐
If you haven't seen Machete, see it now.
Mud for me. Had a 'Stand by Me' feel to it. Really enjoyed it.
+3 for Django, was awesome.
Captain Phillips looks very promising. Still ain't got round to seeing Elysium and Star Trek, tut.
Django
Star Trek - Seen it at Imax 3D too and the scene where they going through warp to escape and then there's a huge thunderous roar (I won't say why) was outstanding at the iMax.
I'm watching it again now.
Cracker here, pain and gain... A must watch
Are they still making films? I thought they stopped 4 years ago when my kids were born...
django
lone ranger
and going to see 'sunshine on Leith' later in the week.
World War Z
Olympus Has Fallen
Startrek Into Darkness
Oblivion
Now you see me
Great Gatsby
Still ain't got round to seeing Elysium
Pretty mediocre...
The kings of summer
Sightseers
Rush
the act of killing
Honestly guys, Prisoners is a must watch. Very good film.
Warm Bodies was superb, favourite film though probably This Is The End.
According to Empire the film of the year is yet to be released, Gravity is out next week. Empire doesn't give out 5 stars for just any movie.
The 3 films that have stood out for me are -
Rush
Pacific Rim
The World's End
Can't wait til they come out disc to watch again...
I'm still looking forward to Machete Kills & I think what will be my film of the year - Gravity. (Never looked thought I'd say that about a George Clooney/Sandra Bullock film..)
Pacific Rim
Really? Possibly the worst film I've seen in ages (and I like Sci Fi / Action Films)...
Argo. Brilliant
Rush, bloody brilliant film. Even Mrs Feet thought so!
I've only seen one film from this year.
Django. Which was quite good.
As much as I enjoyed Warm bodies, the whole film hours plus is completely summarized in the 3 minute trailer..
Really enjoyed the latest Star Trek, but I am a fan
Gunna watch Django in a bit.. as much as I enjoyed some of Tarantino's films, he seemingly lives off his success and produce mediocre stuff the majority of the time (IMO).
Not seen anything else, as other than the Lone Ranger (it was gone from the cinema before we got our act together), I've not fancied much this year, or been put off by the neighbours reviews (she hated Prisoners) & wait for sky to show them.
The Machine ???
Argo, Rush, Into Darkness and The World's End.
when you see the quality of TV series such as Breaking bad, good movies are hard to find these days. Rust and Bone was the one I enjoyed the most this year, with Django.

But when he gets it right he gets it very right, it's a very good film some fantastic dialogue, great acting and brilliant action but tied in with showing just how horrible slavery was.
For me Django, Blue Jasmine and Place Beyond the Pines. Enjoyed Star Trek
Side Effects was good
Disappointed by the worlds end and only god forgives
Been a bit slack this year though, a lot will have to wait till blu ray/ DVD/ streaming release
Trance was quite good.
Good Vibrations
Argo
Robot and Frank
Django Unchained. Actually, the only thing I've seen at the cinema this year! (Oh, apart from some rubbishy kid's fantasy film thing)
World War Z was better than I expected.
Liked Argo, Rush and Place Beyond the Pines. Saw Sightseers yesterday and that has to be the best carvanning serial killer movie i've seen this year.
Not eaten KFC since watching Killer Joe though!!
Place Beyond the Pines - its a film that will stay in my mind a while. good film.
Argo - again liked it lots.
On the whole not been that bowled over by many films this year but quite keen to see Filth
EDIT: Django was ok, but not exceptional. Into darkness was predictable but fun. Trance was also ok, but a bit surreal for my brain.
+1 Robot and Frank
I enjoyed Upstream Colour, from the guy who made Primer.
And also Ain't them bodies saints - it does a better job of being a Terrence Malick film than any of Malick's recent efforts.
Haven't seen many this year, but enjoyed Bernie
