Best? Not sure but love this one. Unremarkable for three minutes, but then it becomes unmistakably Billy, and that makes me smile

The late Big Mama Thornton, great voice and mustard on the harmonica. Includes some seriously sizzling sax playing.

Camera obscura covers bruce Springsteen
tougher than the rest.
Very different from the original and very sweet.

Hands down the best cover ever IMO. Good shouts for the Johnny Cash version of Hurt and Jeff Buckley.

Not the greatest but these two are awesome:

The best covers are better than the originals...........

House of the rising sun

Unremarkable for three minutes, but then it becomes unmistakably Billy

But it's only three minutes long.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah is a magnificent shout.

I'd go with either:
Foo Fighters - Band On The Run

Or Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Over The Rainbow

You are dead inside if that doesn't make you smile.

As per the other link provided. The answers are threefold.

Johnny Cash - Hurt
Jimmy Hendrix - All along the Watchtower
Britney Spears - I love Rock and Roll.

Jimmy Hendrix - All along the Watchtower

Generally said to be the best cover ever. However it isn't even the best Dylan cover ever*:

*may contain personal opinion.

It's also arguably not Hendrix's most convincing cover in terms of "owning" the song
