MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
I need to buy new camping chairs. I'm looking at loads online at all the usual places, Go Outdoors, Cotswolds etc.
I'd choose comfort over price.
Weight isn't a big issue, but I still need it to fold down in a compact fashion.
What have you got that works?
Thanks in advance
good thread sick of chairs busting I need 3 which fold away compactly

I tried loads and these were the most comfortable by far
Why have a chair when you can have a sofa..
Hooooow much . My living room chairs in the house barely cost that much
Not sure the sofa would last long next to a camp fire?
Anyone tried these?

The best chairs are generally considered to be the OzTent ones... Built to last and used in the Outback by Fat Aussies (but they are expensive)

but.......The new Vango ones that are rated to 180kg have got good reviews

(and can be had at a decent price £35

I have a bad back and the soft bottom camping chairs destroy me. We had to spend some time finding a chair that worked and went for the Outwell Kenai. Yes it is really quite pricey (but sure we paid less last year), but p20 would be tempted to buy one for him too. Folds up flat.
Bought a sturdy one from Decathlon for £30 some eight or more yrs back. It still lives on, comfortable too.
*EDIT - of course I just checked and they no longer stock them, just cheaper ones. Remember the days when good products were stocked for longer than a season? Grumblegrumble
These

We have three though there are 4 of us, they're awesome buy quality buy once !
End of thread !
These cheap and cheerful Halfords' specials have done us well for over a year of frequent use so far. They are fairly bulky and perhaps won't meet your compact criteria but they are much more comfortable than the moon chairs they replaced

I've got a vango one that always makes people jealous it's so comfy...if I remember I'll post the m9del tomorrow. I do love it
Lots of people using fishermans chairs 8)

Useful thread, ta
Finally got myself an Alite Mayfly.
Comfy, can easily reach stuff you've put down AND you can rock back in it.
Moon chairs are ace! No idea what brand I got, but it's dead comfs.
Just hang around after any given festival there are dozens left lying around.
Those air lounger thing look excellent for just dossing outside the tent, can be had pretty cheap, and pack really small.
That air lounger just reminded me to get one for my holiday later in the year, just ordered one off fleabay for a tenner, ought to be good for a couple of year's usage, those cheap folding chairs cost that.
It's this one. Comfiest thing ever

Depends on your use. If you want a comfy chair that you can eat at a table from, will last a lifetime and folds smaller than any other out there then you need one of these. Not cheap mind. But mine are 5 years old and as new, my mates are twice that and still going strong.

If you want more of a lounger then the Oz-tent King Guonna is good, though expensive, and I have known them break too.
Similar style to the Outwell Kenai linked above we have Isabella Thor chairs and they are incredibly comfortable.
Aldi have some comfy bucket chairs in for about £17 at the mo, is that a good price?
Thanks for your suggestions - Bear how much is the standing order you've set up for that website...?
'Big and Heavy People' website - the strap line is "Understanding Your Needs". Chocolate I guess?
Like the looks of the OzTent offering. A headrest would be nice...
I have one of the Aldi bucket chairs they had on offer last year, very comfy but quite large when packed, and in true STW fashion I also have one of these Helinox Sunset Chair which is comfy enough to fall asleep for an afternoon snooze after a boozy lunch.
Quite a bit, your 40th present is proving expensive, that's stone not years......
I think I asked a question like this a while ago... I ended up buying an outwell black hills. V comfy and as I bought last years model reasonable cost. Doing well for this years kids cricket spectating!
My son & I often test after the "fishing" chairs & beds in go outdoors! They're great.
However, we have the cheapo fold up ones from the above retailer ,still ok after 4 years.
So what you're saying (georges87) is you resurrected this thread to promote your blog?
pish. missed that.
Tried a few in the camper over the years, by far the comfiest have been the B and Q ones, fold flat and dont break the bank

A word of caution. Learn the proper terminology around folding camping chairs. Many years ago we used to go on holiday with another family. My mate was a footy fan and turned up one weekend with a foldy chair, bright red, with an England logo. Next to all the other mute coloured variations it was swiftly mocked and labelled "The Cod-Chair". From that day on however the name spread to all the other folding camping chairs that we owned, and we simply, and blithely referred to all foldy camp chairs as "Cod-Chairs".
My wife took our 8 year old daughter into Woolworths to get her a new camping chair, and Emily asked a very puzzled shop assistant if she could get "one of those pink cod chairs" down from the top shelf for her.
These ones (on sale from Sunday) from Aldi are ace:
https://www.aldi.co.uk/adventuridge-caravanning-chair/p/082318196801500
We have one and have been waiting for them to come back in store so that we can replace our crappy old ones
I have some Lafuma ones a bit like these. Brutally expensive (it hurts less when you price them as multiples of DI2 rear mechs, I find) but amazingly comfy and incredibly lightweight, which is important with touring caravans. Might not suit everyone, but we're really happy with them.
If you're not rolling with the "Go Lightlies", look for an aluminium frame if you can as it makes a huge difference to weight when carting the things about.
