Unbroken beach all the way from Barmouth up to Dyffryn and Shell island, it gets less developed and better the further you go. A bit further north Harlech beach is pretty good too.

Are you staying at Graig Wen perchance? Lovely spot. Handy for Coed y Brenin too.

Would agree with what Tim said for beaches local to that area, but worth a drive up to the Lleyn peninsular for a day as well... some great beaches up there. Porth Neigwl (Hells Mouth) gets good surf on occasion, Morfa Nefyn, Whistling Sands, Aberdaron all really nice.

Too many to mention really, but from where you are I'd be trying a day at Shell Island or Harlech, if you fancy a bit of a drive, most of the obvious beaches on the Lleyn are worth a visit, Llangranog, Abersoch, Hell's Mouth, Aberdaron, Tudweiliog all good. The ones headed south are mostly backed by huge caravan parks. If you're taking a dog, have a google at the relevant council websites, they are very good at setting out which ones have restrictions. (No National Trust beaches allow dogs.)

Harlech is the beach where I spent many of my childhood holidays, get around to Port Meirion aswell, not just for the beach either.

...although I wouldn't rate any of those as the best beaches in Wales. For those you need to head further south to Pembrokeshore: Whitesands, Traeth Llyfn, Abereiddi, Newgale all top notch.
Barafundle, Bosherston... lovely, lovely lovely...

To be fair if I had to pick just one beach in Wales, it would be Tresaith, but since you are staying where you are, and that coast is so good, I wouldn't trek south of Aberystwyth.

Ton - Graig Wen is great..a magical spot. Sure you'll love it. We camped there for the first time about 18 months ago... I actually found out I was going to be a dad there and this year we took our little one there for the first time as part of our camper van tour of Wales. Self catering accomodation looks great too.

You really can't go there and not take a bike, it's bang on the Mawddach trail and an easy ride down to Barmouth from there, although a killer of a climb back up to the main site on the way back. Also a short ride upriver to The George pub.

Pics below is the view out of the back of our van when we woke up in the morning:

why dont you nip out for a quick blast early morning - would be a shame to miss some great riding - when you up there?

and yes Pembrokeshire does have some great beaches but some lovely spots in North wales as well

Fresh West in Pembrokeshire is terrible. Avoid it at all costs. No, really.

Newborough in Anglesey; Aberfraw and Rhosneigr are all great places.

Newborough in Anglesey

Gets a bit busy, especially with kiters in the summer winds ๐Ÿ˜€

Barafundle is also terrible. Please don't go there. Please? Stay away, if you could.

Mate of mine was on holiday in Wales a couple of years ago. Wanted to go to the coast, so picked up signs for Traeth Beach. Came back telling me that it was really nice, but it was bloody huge, biggest beach he'd ever known, it was signposted for miles.

"Traeth" is Welsh for "Beach"...

Nice beaches all the way from the Gower up to Anglesey - some cracking "secretish" beaches in West Pembs. You can't go wrong really - get an OS map or two and explore away!

Use the paths (3) to cross the Golf Course at Aberdovey.
Take what you need for the day tho.
Beautiful beach, dunes for shelter if windy (likely) big kitesurf area.
Being going down that way for years and best beach in the area IMO.
Watch for wayward golf balls when crossing ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pendine is fun, around seven miles long and only the first mile really gets many people.

Welsh beaches rock. All this talk of the Gower and Pembrokshire is making me wish I was there!
