The Perseids meteor shower peaks tonight. If you have a clear sky, it might be worth taking a wee daunder outside for a few minute.

Oh, ta for the (literally) heads up!
Will have a wander into the middle of Town Field when I finish this pint of Landlord.
IGMC(it's going a bit chilly) 🙂
refilling glass of vino, and heading out for a stroll now...
Trapped a nerve in me neck in the bath today, so I'll be looking for the lower flying ones out of the window (with the lights out).
and heading out for a [s]stroll[/s] piss at the end of the garden now...
FTFY.
Clear skies in Devon. A Few metoerites and lots of bright flashes.
yeah.. that'll be the lightning from the thunderstorms and torrential rain in the rest of Devon..
Ahhhh. So that's why things were looking active last night. I bivi'd out in Coire Grannda and about 1.30am I unzipped to get fresh air and was amazed at the sky. The trails on some of the 'shooting stars' were fizzling out from tail to head so you could easily catch sight of them and watch them burn out. Really amazing to watch up there. At one point there were 3 satellites overhead. One straight from the west heading over me.. the one on the left was heading Achnashellach direction and the other one was heading Gairloch direction. Unreal! While I lost sight of the one on the right, another trail was burning through the sky. I actually filmed one satellite before it was dark. I didn't know it would be possible to see three in the same area.
clear patch of sky over casa del stoner, caught a few, but not a lot.
Just been out to water the lawn, (ahem), stood around in my shorts and slippers, getting cold, and didn't see a damned thing in fifteen minutes!
Just got back from Shavercombe Waterfall, on Dartmoor and several bright, bright camera flash balls lit the sky up whilst we were coming home .
Not a sound of thunder anywhere.... 😀
Saw two definites and a couple of maybes in a stroll across the field and back, together with a few amorous couples on long the way back from the pub and a pair of bats who followed me from their usual playground of the trees in my front garden.
Saw just over two dozen in a bit less than an hour. Some low cloud over Edinburgh was catching the streetlights, obscuring part of the horizon. The rest of the sky was pretty clear.
Thanks for the headsup, just seen 1 and 1 in the corner of my eye in 5mins gap.
Ah ****, was up in Edin' other day for tatt. was a recession hit performance even though the tickets were £30 each 😯
Would you agree with me that the whole of Edinburgh needs jet washing?
Got up at four to have a look, not a sausage, and it was getting a bit too light too. Went for a ride instead.
think i may have snapped one! in london!!!!
though any expert help appreciated
i know we are past the peak but this was about 10 mins ago
so left hand side (east)
the one on the bottom right was a plane , the green laser comes from the local arts centre- no idea why and i think thats a satelite going into the tree (faint line) that i was trying to get
25 sec exposure, 1600 iso
is that not the 23:45 arrival from Buenos Ares to heathrow? 😉
Could be a Perseid but we do get random strikes all the time. Great shot though - very fortuitous.
quite possibly im only about 10 miles away!
the planes tend to lookred/green dotted lines- see rh corner

Arse. I read the first post and spent 30 minutes looking upwards before I realised this thread was four days old. Now I've got a crick in my neck and a pissed off wife.
