Can anyone recommend a good portable beach shade/shelter? Been looking at Neso/Otentik for example.

Very different to what you might be looking for but I've always used the Decathlon popup ones with a zip up front door to keep stuff safe whilst I'm the water.

Might be totally wrong for your needs but thought I'd suggest it anyway.

We have one of these and have been using it for years. Brilliant bit of kit. Pop up design, packs small, sandbag pockets and you can zip the front up of you need some privacy.

A couple of years ago we took a punt on a upf50 sun shade - a square of sun-proof material maybe 5ft on a side, a length of rope in each corner with a bag on the end to fill with sand for weighing it down, and two collapsible poles for propping it up (description because I'm not sure if my picture will post). No good for bad weather but on sunny days it's AWESOME, takes all the heat out of the sun. If it's completely still you'll still get hot but if there's just a bit of breeze you'll be chilly. 🙂

We’ve got pretty much the one in MudPup’s link. Really quick and easy to put up. It’s quite big when folded, 15cm round, about 1.5m long. Works really well, I’ve been hiding from the sun inside it all week.

We’ve also got a shade similar to what Pondo describes, used it on beaches in Portugal last year. Again only a few minutes to put up, packs down OK, but it’s a bit heavy. But it is about 2m x 4m.
