Pffftt.. I watch iPlayer on my iPhone in my iBed 😀

(Say what you like about the BBC licence fee, but I doubt many private companies would give as broad a range of access to their programmes for the same price!)

You need to be connected to a wireless network though, it doesn't work on normal 3G bandwidth.

Browse to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer on your iPod/iPhone through Safari and the website shows itself up the proper way.

Through Safari at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/

You can press the little add bookmark "+" symbol then do "Add To Home Screen" and you'll end up with a little icon, just like an app.

Yeah, rubbish restriction imposed by the network operators.

You can also watch 20 odd channels of live TV via http://iphone.tvcatchup.com/ and bizarrely that seems to work fine on 3G (provided you get a good signal).

Neither would they get away with forcing you to pay for it without any scope for competitive supply or option not to buy it.

Indeed. That's partly why it's such amazingly good value.

You've lost me now. Paying for something I don't want is good value?

You don't have to pay for it if you don't want it.

No, but by forcing everyone to pay they don't have to waste funds by maintaining a subscription scheme, which would be expensive (new hardware, billing systems, debt collection). So forced collection works out cheaper for everyone 😀

Yeah, much better watching the iPlayer through the TV using the Wii than having to stick the laptop on & watch it on a little screen with sound through little speakers.

Couldn't you just connect the TV to the laptop?
That what I did before I got a Wii.

Sky Player is only any good if you're already a Sky subscriber. Total waste of money otherwise.

Wish iPlayer was on Xbox360 properly 🙁

GrahamS, dunno. There's already enough cables and stuff behind the TV without adding another one.

Bill Gates wont let you have it because the BBC want to give it free but MS don't understand that principle & are insisting that users pay

Virgin Media is good for this because you can watch all the catch-up channels through the box.

Interested to see it work through the Wii though, might have aplay with that tonight.
