Any recommendations for a reasonably priced (£200ish) 1500mm bath? And recommendations of where to buy? I've looked at places like bathstore & victoria plumb, but have red plenty of bad reviews about them to realise that the prices are probably too good to be true.

This looks pretty good if the shop's ok to deal with; as does this. Anyone any experience of either the shops or the baths?

Any other recommendations?

Do not, I repeat DO NOT use the Bathstore. Useless ****s. I got a bath cheaper and quicker from my local plumbers merchant. Bathstore promised 3 day delivery 3 weeks, still nothing, then told one of the bits would be out of stock for >6 weeks. Local merchant delivered it that day!

Bathstore sold me a bath much cheaper and delivered quickly. <£200 for a 1800 x 800 bath. However accessories are very expensive from them. &80 for the bath panel for example

+1 for Bathstore being rubbish. Overpriced and the taps and stuff are gash. As TSY said, look up local plumbers merchants or big local builders merchants like Jewson, Travis Perkins etc. More helpful, cheaper, more choice

+2 For bathstore being useless. Always much better to go to local merchants.

+3 for local plumbers merchants. We got the bath from b&q as we wanted a double ended one, then saved a packet by getting sink and bog from a plumbing place.

Wouldn't recommend anything else below £400. I always fit these and that is a super price too. I get them direct from the distributor for not much less than that!

I don't know anything about that particular retailer though.

The vitra one's are fully encapsulated. They're a good, solid 5mm in the sides and about 30mm around the rim and base. A lot heavier than a standard bath too.
I hate B & Q stuff, always try to talk customers out of it when they mention it. I tell them I won't offer any warranty on it either.

I had looked at some of the Vitra ones before. I assume that all vitra models are the same quality.

Funky Monkey - you'd recommend them over the Carron or Ideal Standard ones then?

Never used a carron, ideal standard are ok, but given the choice, i'd take vitra every time

With regard to quality, the cheap vitra stuff is very good. The expensive stuff is the dogs

i got an Amourplus (Renaissance Plastics) from a local plumb supplier (Boast Plumbing in new Haw, Surrey - v helpful bods)

http://www.armour-plastics.com/renaissancebaths/Baths_One/baths_one.html

it is very solid, no flex and well finished - + encapsulated baseboard etc, not not that crap you see in b&q and wicks etc.

was £300 inc delivery

In the biz on the supply side.

Perosnally I'd give acrylic a miss and go for a decent quality steel jobbie. There are pros and cons, but the steel one will definately be more robust.

For example see here Can't speak for the website, but an idea of price etc

Local plumbers merchant for me. Bathstore qoute was the equivalent of a full sus carbon fibre bike, plus they'd forgotten to include a toilet in that price, so at their prices add another £300, so thats a wheelset as well!

Localish plumbers have a bathroom displayroom, but once the newest models are out they step things down into a smaller (dare I say dingier) showroom, but also cut the prices massively to ensure that people buy the stuff! Prepared to deal/haggle over prices as well, so we got the sink cabinet & taps thrown in the deal.
