Not sure how you can be cheesed off at someone providing insured financial transfer cover for 10% of the transaction's value but I guess the bigger the transaction the more mental it may seem.

Seems pretty useless compared to Paypal...doesn't offer any protection whatsoever.

Paypal is 3.4% plus 20p, not exactly daylight robbery is it? (although I admit, once tallied up with the paypal charges it does seem a bit steep, but you get a premium price on ebay so you won't normally lose out overall.)

Pingit's free.

For Barclays customers it's quick and easy to set up. For non-Barclays the registration process is a pain (you're setting up a special Barclays account so all the money laundering stuff needs to be complied with). You also need to add money to your "wallet" if you're a non Barclays customer.

I'm waiting for a proper UK wide scheme that links phone numbers with bank accounts from the banks like Faster Payments. It's in progress but Pingit may have moved it up the agenda.

Barclays, that bastion of ethical banking. what could possibly go wrong with them?

Pingit is more just a fast way to transfer funds about, it doesn't act as an escrow or offer any protection as the service itself is not related to purchasing/selling goods

go back to writing a cheque or simply do a bank transfer if you don't want to use PayPal

what's wrong with bank transfer?
