Hello. Mrs iolo wants to learn the banjo but has actually no idea what she needs. Which banjo would you recommend? How many strings? Anyone got one gathering dust they might consider selling? Any tips on how to start? YouTube or online leaning thingy. Thanks.

Speak to Eagle music shop and ask for advice.

Banjo Ben Clark's website for lessons.

Any tips? Get used to being the brunt of everyone else's jokes.

It depends really what style of music she is interested in. If it's yer normal ye-ha Mercan banjo playing, then a five string. A decent starter instrument is a Deering Goodtime. But yes, Eagle Music will set you right.
