It's back - the annual Rab owners club meet up.

Went to the Red show in Nottingham last night, usual mix of subjects I have very little knowledge of in amazing landscapes, stunning photography and fascinating tales of individual and community success.

Looking forward to the Blue show in a couple of months at Buxton.

Don’t miss out on “the cyclist” show that’s touring too. Missus got me it for Xmas and we went the other night, 2.5 hours of bike films… it was brilliant, amped up by the fact we were in the Vue cinema on recliners too!

Went to see the 2026 Red edition last night, some really good films.  This one was my favourite, two guys taking their two year old toddlers on a six day MTB tour in the Swiss alps

That was a lovely film, my favourite of this years Red programme.

Forgotten I'd started this thread last year. Got the Blue programme booked at Buxton in May - for some reason they don't send both down here to Nottingham.

I saw the Blue films (no...., not that sort) in Shrewsbury the other evening. First time at a Banff screening, and it was most entertaining and inspirational, apart from perhaps the short film on powder skiing in Japan, which I thought was a bit meh. The beehouse maker man is doing sterling work. I'd like to see the Red collection too, but that's not coming within reasonable travelling distance of home until November. Hey ho.

Been attending the shows for a few years as a chance to catch up with a mate. There's always one film of the 6 that's meh, one that is at least 5 minutes too long and one that isn't an "action" film but instead is just a delight to watch.

The toddler film was definitely in that category. Others from recent years were one where a community (maybe in Canada?) turned a disused dump into a mini ski resort for the local kids, and one about a woman - who had built a successful business making skiwear back in the 80s, retired, and then ended being the top pack raft manufacturer after making one for her son.

Having watched the Red program in Feb, I always try to get to both sets of films each year and I'd say that's a great summary ^^! The Jasmin Paris film is a great watch from the Reds, even knowing that she did in fact finish it was still high in suspense.

I sometimes struggle with the more niche skiing and climbing content because I don't do either, so things that might be super impressive/hardcore to an enthusiast to me doesn't have the perspective of how much more difficult that is compared to somebody that's just 'quite good'. I guess non-MTBers probably have the same watching Kilian Bron riding really technical and exposed descents, probably less visually impressive than someone 'just' riding a big straightforward jump line. That's where the behind-the-scenes longer films stand out for me, they add a lot of context.
