I didn't realise, but Richard Ballantyne had died.

I learned a lot from his book; it hinted at vistas waiting to be seen, and roads yet to be travelled. Wherever you've gone, I hope you're having a ZOWIE!

i loved his cycling for fitness book, really helped me in the 90s and i still refer to it. the free weight drill is really good. but never have gotten round to making his hamstring stretcher, must do so now.

It was seeing a picture of an exploded Windcheetah in his book that got me interested in recumbents. He was a lovely man in real life, more quiet than you'd expect but very funny and happy to talk to random strangers about bikes all day.
