I've got a back problem not a major one but aggs me every now and then , and ride a hardtail , would riding a full suspension bike be easier on my back ?

It's not as clear cut as that...it depends what's causing your back back in the first place.

I've got a slight twist of the spine , so a chiropractor said as I was handing her £30

I can only speak from personal experience but having ridden a HT for years went to FS after recovering from prolapse disc op. In general I feel less beaten up after a long ride and never get a sore back. But I also spend time in the gym to keep my core muscles strong, make sure I sit properly, lift things correctly etc so I have a general awareness to help keep my back from going again.
