I went into work today after three days off.
"Look on the shelf in the gear store" I was told.
So I did and peered into the 'do not disturb' box and instead of a nest with 4 blue eggs I found 4 tiny beaks pointing at me, followed by a tiny female Robin battering the crap out of me.
Darn it, nature is pretty cool.

We had our first arrive in the garden last week. A bit quieter than the baby rook and jackdaw that have also appeared.

Just had one hopping round the front lawn - fledged but just a couple of downy feathers to go.

We had a couple of pigeons trying to get through a hole in our eaves just above the bedroom window... not sure I'm so thrilled about that one. Squealing pigeon chicks isn't the pleasantest sound in the world.

I once brought up a pigeon by hand from tiny (eyes still closed) and kept it in the spare room until grown and released to a sanctuary. The wife is still traumatised 😁
