Not to everyone's taste but I'd love a series 1 RS turbo.

A good mate had one, I worked Saturdays in his dad’s hifi shop, so had a chance to get rides in it.
It had quite a few issues from new, front discs warped, front suspension uprights kept failing, one night four of us coming through Savernake Forest on our way back from a hifi show in Ade’s RS heard an almighty bang and sparks lit up a car going in the opposite direction when we hit the bottom of a dip in the road at some speed; turned out it was the fuel pump hitting the road!
Oh, and there were issues with the Recaro seats as well.

Google an image, right click it, select 'copy image location' then select the 'IMG' button and paste the image location in. Preview it before you post and you'll know if it's worked or not.

First car I fell for at a dealership:

Nissan 300ZX

[img] [/img]

I don't care if it's a US market oddball with little going for it, I still thought (and still do) that it looked awesome.

Another bit of J-Tin, Toyota AE86 Trueno Sprinter (waibu panda paint job optional)

[img] [/img]

Just for sheer tenacity the VAZ2105 aka Lada Riva. My dad's never let him down till he traded up for a Cherry (that was also a mile muncher). Pictured in normal operating conditions.

[img] [/img]

Much nicer than its successor, Ferrari 512 BB...

[img] [/img]

...but not a shade on the car it was designed to compete with.

[img] [/img]

Liking the Buick on page one, always liked Damian Lewis' one in Life. On that note I would like to nominate the 1975 Dodge Monaco sedan. Also, more 30's aero!

On an aside, did anyone else gleefully await the next copy of the annual (?) Daily Mail Motor Review?

I used to love the 300ZX, looked really ahead of its time IMO.

Even considered buying one in the noughties, but realised I wasn't actually interested in driving fast and got a Scirocco instead.

A great every-day performance car, great-looking, and I had one. And it was as much fun to drive as my Mk2 GTI. Loved the interior layout, the way the back seats folded flat for bikes, the weighting of all the controls (I guess that's a Porsche-thing but I wouldn't know, I've only ever driven the 944).

There were many outrageous coachbuilt cars in the 30/40s but the 1949 Delahaye once owned by Diana Dors is up there with the most stunning.

I know the Countach is an obvious choice, but how about the one off special built for the then company owner, Patrick Mimran, in a sublime metallic burgundy. I wouldn't mind a bike in that colour!

That W123 estate is the right colour! 8)

The whitewalls and rack ruin it, however.

And, as for the 190 Evo on the previous page...

HubbaHubba!

My friend had one of these very briefly (it turned out to be a wreck).

I've been in a few fancy motors but nothing felt as gangster as the mk3 Cortina GT...

On the back of this thread I looked up Renault 5 Turbo 2 on Autotrader. There's one there if anyone's feeling flush.

Colp mentioned a car that I'd been trying to remember, although I was thinking of the later version.... The Opel Manta! Granted they were probably utterly Shi'ite but I liked them when I was a kid.

I love those 30s / 40s American cars with the enclosed wheels.
