Of those people I'm aware of having done anything so far, the only possible candidate is Theresa May. Not that she wouldn't be a worthy candidate in any company, but nobody else has yet managed to irritate me.

Really? On the odd occasion I post that, or something like, it's because I. Genuinely. Don't. Have. The. Foggiest. Idea. Who. People. Are. On. About.
There, glad that's been cleared up.

I guess the issue is that it can be seen as somewhat contrived. As you're posting your lack of knowledge of a person or thing, while being on the biggest information source known to man, and in the time it takes to post....

or

...you could have just googled it. ๐Ÿ˜€

My vote will stick with the Donald, from his bizarre new year tweet it looks like he is going into the year on the offensive.

Turned on the radio today and got confirmation that Katie Hopkins is still as much as an irritating bitch in 2017 as she was in 2016.

I can cope with a bit of Farage nonsense or James O'Brien's self righteous BS on LBC, but I draw the line at Hopkins. Gave her a chance but she spouts utter vile bile. Really surprised she's not locked up for hate crime.

Yes, someone is going to have to pull out all the stops to knock her off the no. 1 spot. A very nasty piece of work.

Is she still here? Wasn't the bonus of Trump getting elected supposed to be that she pissed off to America?

Yeah, I could have, but every time someone posts something like that, it's always with the assumption that whoever it is is such a famous celebrity, that everybody has to know who they are.
Well, my interest in minor celebrity amounts to bugger-all, and my desire to have to google every time it happens sits at around the same level.

Ok, but if you're not interested, why do you need to tell us you don't know who they are? ๐Ÿ˜†

But obviously you would like someone to post and explainer and you have the desire to post asking etc.

Strong start from my colleague. Shes been discussing her New Years resolutions.

Learn to ski
Pay off a 6grand credit card
Get a Boob job
Buy Audi TT (new) this will be her 3rd car. She's been driving 6 months, both previous cars (BMW 1 series, then Audi A1) have been crashed, though not seriously...

I would imagine that the most irritating person of the last year will be so again this year. Not least because he keeps promising to go away, then not doing so. And now that he's got the added 'kudos' of being Trumps sock-puppet in the UK, I doubt there will be any escaping the ****!

In my case, I was hoping to use my ignorance to make a point(obviously very badly!) - if media personalities are winding you up, stop giving them the attention they crave and find something better to do.

A little bell is ringing about a piece I read somewhere on BBC bias around the last general election; something along the lines of the exposure given to UKIP and the Greens. Despite the oft-cited claims that the BBC leans left, UKIP were given a lot more air-time, despite only having the a similar number of MPs in power - IIRC UKIP had two and the Greens had one at the time. The general conclusion was that because UKIP statements were so ludicrous and populist that they made good viewing, which obviously included Farage as their 'one of the people' frontman.

Fair? Probably not. The state of the media? Arguably moreso.

Pimp UKIP where the only people really talking about the voters main issue Immigration. The mainstream parties created a vacuum and they filled it. Also it's not about the number of MPs but the share of the vote, UKIP was the party with forward momentum and was "the news story"

Farage is probably the UKs single most influential politician since Thatcher and maybe even including her. Almost single handedly he lead the movement to force a Referendum and get us out of the EU. Stunning really.

Fair point. What could then be discussed is how much of an over-issue immigration was/is, and whether its political relevance was in fact unequally increased when compared to other issues, such as climate change, air pollution or austerity. Or, to put it another way, when The Mail were spouting off about benefits fraud and getting people riled up about a problem they could see and relate to, what was actually happening in the bigger picture was in fact large corporations and the super-rich were actually costing the government and the average taxpayer far more than the benefit fraudsters ever have.

From that point of view they were still pushing a single, publicly visible populist agenda, which got them airtime - fairly or unfairly is a question of priority.

Farage is probably the UKs single most influential politician since Thatcher and maybe even including her. Almost single handedly he lead the movement to force a Referendum and get us out of the EU. Stunning really.

Arguably so. Similarly divisive too.
