So the thread about speakers has got me thinking about selling my playbar and going back to an AV receiver setup.
Problem is we have a hard drive full of music that we can stream to the playbar via the sonos app.
We also have the Amazon app linked to it as well.
Is there a receiver that can do the same ?
If not how would I get around it ?
You can plug a chromecast audio into any amp.
Hmm. My streamer is audio (radio and music) only and the TV does it's own A/V reception, however I've got the TV sound routed into the Hifi with an optical audio cable via the streamer.
Not exactly the one-box solution you're looking for though...
Mine has bluetooth connection and smart apps so can stream music from my phone via BT direct or access spotify (and similar like Deezer etc.) via the smart apps, though it is super slow and clunky doing it via the amp so I will just stream via my phone. I can also plug a USB hard drive into it and access content directly.
However I can't play through Sonos (thought not got a player). Sonos onlyworks through the Sonos amp, but if you plug your HDD into your router you should be able to access the content via the Sonos app.
So the HDD we have is connected to the router/network and the sonos streams from that.
Never used Chromecast... How does it work
I have an Amazon fire TV box that I can stream the music to and play via VLC but that means having the TV on which we don't always want to do ?

You plug it into your amp and stream music to it using a suitable app.
