So, new wireless server thingy from our new supplier only had ethernet connections (former BT one also had USB)
Aging PC only has USB, no wireless, never will be- am I right in thinking one of the many 'plug and play' adaptors is all I need it get up and connected again?
Cheers
Why not just connect it with an ethernet cable if both PC and server "thingy" have them ?
I'd go with either a PCI wireless card or a wired Ethernet connection.
USB to Ethernet / USB WiFi dongles will work, but I'd suggest that USB2 is a prerequisite here - USB1.1 isn't up to it. They're probably dearer as well.
Ive got plenty of wired ethernet network cards lying around.... Happy to send you one if you want one.
If your PC has a usb port it will have an ethernet port. Simply use a Cat5 cable between them, make sure its not a cross over.
or a wireless usb adaptor
