do you mean if you give someone some money, a mate or family member probably, and then decide their not your mate anymore?
or else using it to transfer cash when you buy stuff from people you dont know with no extra charges and then hoping you have some come back?
I dont like paypal but why would gifting protect you and why would you think it might?

against what ? Why would a gift need protecting ? Or are you just dodging the fees ?

no you are not, you cannot open a dispute on a payment sent as a gift
