Its a borrowed PC so Im not sure if its 'safe' or not to place an online order. Anyway of checking?
I can only find window security alerts on the bottom right hand corner of the tool bar.
(Found Avast 4.8 home edition)
Install spybot and run a scan. Use whichever virus scanner is already installed to scan too.
Online ones? No decent ones that I know of. Suspect they'd run too slow not to mention risk in that process itself.
Will do (thanks)- but how do you know your not actually downloading a Trojan virus?

Just download the free version and scan.
Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool is excellent and Free and does not install just runs from .exe
If you can't download it on your machine (some of these Virus/Spyware/Malware won't restrict the internet sites they will let you brows) then download it on a friends machine and transfer via USB....

There is a new one every month - currently 08/12/09
It's not a substitute for AV but it will get you out of a situation - I've used several times successfully
