Kent? I was down there Friday. Bedgebury is a rideable distance from there and holds up well in the winter, not the most fun place though.

Kings wood at Challock is good but gets very muddy

If it is Kent, then Hamstreet Woods are really close by and have some nice trails, will be pretty muddy in winter though and you need some local knowledge ideally. I've got a GPX file from a ride we've done round there if you want it.

Just go to the red lion in snargate and sit there drinking beer all day instead of riding.
I grew up in Stone-in-oxney (neighbouring village) and it’s never been worth taking a mtb when going ‘home’. Was there during the week and unless it freezes you will spend longer cleaning the clag off your bike than riding.

The Red Lion is all day and all night till you decide to lock up isn't it!

It was when Doris (RIP) was still running it, don't think I have been back since she passed away, I remember when it was just a single room.
"You want ice and lemon in that? Sorry we don't do food" 😆
