Am i right in thinking that you still cant access a NAS box from an apple tv box? I currently use an old boxee box to access my nas to play movies to my non smart tv.
Sounds right, though if your [url= https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201373803-NAS-Compatibility-List ]NAS has sufficient horsepower[/url] you can run Plex Server on it and stream them to the Apple TV.
Rather than overloading your NAS with Plex Server (potentially, your NAS could be a powerhouse for all I know!!), have a look at Infuse. It's an app that works similarly to plex but will play from just about any source including a NAS without any kind of server component.

Only down side is that it's not free for the full version, try the free one first though as the paid version just plays more formats, which you might not have.
