Looking at buying apple tv tomorrow as my laptop is dead and the wife's don't have a hdmi port and long story short I want to wath the DH, I know I can get a cable for the iPad to hdmi but I would prefer to be wirless, I know the iPad 1 can't mirror through apple tv but does the apple tv app work via airstream??

Any advice would be great as I have apple tv reserved to collect tomorrow

Thanks

Do you mean you will be watching the DH on Safari but you want to get the picture to the TV?

Mirroring is the function that lets apps wirelessly connect to the Apple TV and hence your TV.

Ii think you will have to go the cable route directly in to the TV.

If I can prise my GFs iPad1 out of her grip I can check for you later.

Unless YouTube or a movie, will not AirPlay with iPad 1 (I think!)

Component cable will deffo work however.

OK you owe me a beer and the GF a Mojito. ๐Ÿ˜€

I have just downloaded the Redbull TV app to her iPad1.

I selected the live show that was available in the app and I was able to watch it on one of our TVs via Apple TV.

Yes. On the right of the status bar is and white oblong with a up arrow(triangle).

Tap this and it will give you the choice to select the iPad or your Apple TV.

Also my earlier post is incorrect. Mirroring and Airplay are distinct features.
