After several years of great service my iMac is running super-slow, being temperamental and annoying the crap out of me. Not got the knowledge/patience/inclination to sort/update it myself so who's good near Hebden Bridge, please? It's my work tool, so I need a reliable fix. Got a laptop to use if I need to take it and leave it somewhere. I've used Hi-Tech in Bradford once before but it's now shut down. Any ideas? Ta v much.

Just wipe / reinstall it
Make sure you have back-ups first though, before the wipe and re-install. TechTool Pro has a decent suite of tests to check your machine (and repair some software faults). run them overnight though, the disk surface scan in particular can take an age if you have a large disk fitted.
EDIT: took pity and reported post for move to chat where the big-hitters are!
