Do any of these people have girlfriends?
Why, does the iPad have certain undocumented features?

I am the king of nerd 😆
I refuse to buy a iphone imo they are over priced and also an ipod touch £306 for a 64gb version so how much are they going to rip you off for that.
Grahams sky news predicted this including it's name 2 hours ago 😉
Can we ztart a thread for the iPad haterz?

Can we ztart a thread for the iPad haterz?
Only if you've got an app for that.
The way the BBC have been going on about this, you'd think it was some sort of second coming or something! It's just a ****ing computer FFS!
I thought everyone knew it was going to be an iPad...****, that was doing the rounds days ago.
Looks like maybe it doesn't have Flash according to gizmodo...?
The ihate app?
It's just a ****ing computer FFS!
Oh, no, it's sooooo much more than that...

They could have powdered his head. 0/10 for the make-up lady.
Daily Mail said it was going to be called the islate.
They made the touch bigger. Wow
So it's a big iPhone that you can't phone on?
Wow.
Folk will be getting through some iTissues tonight then.

I am on a different planet so it took longer for my post to arrive 😯
I don't even have any Apple products but I do know what NAS stands for
In his defense takisawa2 he has been severely sick.
Looks like maybe it doesn't have Flash according to gizmodo...?
Good. Hopefully that will help it's demise along a bit.
see, I like Apple stuff. Don't own much of it, but it's nice stuff.
but, for ****'s sake.... 'app'?
lazy bastards.
My missus asked if they were now in the feminine hygiene business? 😯
Kuco - you might find this interesting if you think the iPhone is overpriced...
who-is-getting-rich-off-the-iphone

basically it costs Apple $178 to make each phone and it sells them at $199 (ok so we may more in the UK, vat etc.) so apple makes $20 for each iPhone sold in its stores... however they make $371 from AT&T in subsides for each iPhone AT&T sells with a contract! Obviously thats probably changed since you can get the phone from more providers but its interesting all the same.
I don't get it.
What does it do? Is it a laptop? A phone that doesn't fit in your pocket? How do you type on it? With a keyboard that appears and takes up half the screen? Does it bounce? Does it frisbee? Is it heat-resistant enough to be used as a placemat?
So many questions.
Love it or hate it, how many iPod copies are there, and how may iPhone copies...?
It's not the price of the phone it's the contract monthly price the vendors are charging put's me off.

Yeah but you're averse to gears and suspension forks on your mountain bikes!
Nuff said, you heathen... 😉
Just cos I'm lazy, MBoy, just cos I'm lazy. Cleaning gears and forks is a chore. My post-ride maintenance today consisted of hanging the bike up. Oh yeah. 8)
And anyway, you haven't answered my question!!
That looks ridiculous!
Interesting eBook / Gaming / Web & Email device.
Not sure I could use one for business though unless there is a proxy for MS Office on it 🙁
I'd rather they had launched a 15" screened £400 laptop.
No more jizz inbetween the keys and a wipe-proof screen 8)
Does Steve Jobs always have that effect on you hora?
why would they release a £400 laptop? they have no need too! people buy their stuff any regardless of the cost
People will buy the iPad as its apple, its new and it looks cool, they're big enough to sell what they want now and people wiol still buy it regardless of what the haters say
What does it do?
Without having had a go on one myself, I couldn't say for sure...
Would hazard a guess Apple is aiming it at people for whom the iPhone is their first encounter with an Apple product, and have subsequently considered buying more Apple products, but been put off by the price and different Operating System of a Mac.
That, and those that dislike or aren't familiar with a more "conventional" computer interface.
Looks to me like it will be some kind of crossover between an iPhone/iPod Touch and a conventional laptop. Obviously, due to its size, it's not aimed at the fully mobile market, but perhaps as an alternative to a laptop for those that are less computer savvy than a lot of us?
I won't be buying one for certain, but then I'm not scared of computers... I'll just upgrade my old MacBookPro to something newer when the time comes, and my 3G iPhone to the new 4G version when that finally comes out... 😉
didnt O2 try and release somthing like a touch pad not long ago? what happened to that?
Does Steve Jobs always have that effect on you hora?
He also looks splash-proof.

So it's a big iPhone that you can't phone on?
Spot on crikey. One of the benefits of a smartphone like the iPhone is with 3G you can download content in lots of places. If this is just wi-fi you have to go hunting for wireless hotspots.
edit - maybe you can tether the iPhone to it?
it is 3g....but i still dont see the point in it...
'd rather they had launched a 15" screened £400 laptop.
you almost have your wish.
rrp $500
Its only $499... thats impressive
That looks ridiculous!
LOL
So did a laptop computer 15 years ago! It's all about challenging the conventional ideas one thinks... After all, all these 10" Netbooks have proved popular enough over the last year or 2, maybe Apple is just trying to move this market on?
I'd rather they had launched a 15" screened £400 laptop.
Kind of irrelevant to Apple this end of the market really... They are not aiming at, nor have they ever done so, the budget end of the market. Despite a massive increase in popularity over the last few years, Apple still only represent approximately 6% of the world's computer operating systems by usage, as opposed to Windows being on more than 90% of the computers in the world in one form or another.
I'd rather they continued to focus on the high end, high performance end of things more with their computers than attempt to muscle in on the budget stuff!
Wait till next year and they will have a pocket version 🙂
it is 3g....but i still dont see the point in it...
How many people use 3G USB dongles on their laptops or Netbooks?
LOTS!
There's your point... MUCH more convenient to have the 3G built into the unit than plug a USB dongle into it to add mobile internet capability!
Is a 3G dongle $129?
<fanboi alert>
i think i need to persuade work that I really need one of them.
liking the keyboard dock....

Is a 3G dongle $129?
plus data plan.
Is a 3G dongle $129?
Quite a bit more if you have to buy them without a contract, yes!
Only £40 for my PAYG inc 1GB of data. Then £15 for each extra GB.
i dont get the keyboard dock, surely it has to be compatible with the bluetooth mouse and keyboard?!?!
Eeee, lads...
I've no problem with Apple, innovative company, successful company, probably one of the good guys, but the people, the fanboys, the obsessives do make me laugh.
It's a laptop that doesn't open, a screen that lies flat, it doesn't even do all the things my phone does, yet the muppets will insist that it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Love it....
be curious to know is it has a usb port into which a normal dongle could be plugged, i have a dongle. It makes sense if you have a desktop and need a portable, not so sure if you have a small macbook already
AH maverickboy, i get 3G, it's the device I meant i don't get. It's like a giant iPod touch, lacking all the benefits of a laptop, apart from cost, why would you pick this over a MacBook air laptop? Portabiltiyy must be neglible and you can run proper programs with a proper keyboard on the laptop...
tommy, its just a netbook, which also has none of the advantages of a laptop, but with a touchscreen.
why would you pick this over a MacBook air laptop
price..
Also compare it to say a £350-300 netbook. What use are they, they dont do anything well.
As a web broswer for your lounge or something for long flights or rail journeys I think its a winner. Also as its apple you know it will just work and work well.
I only have one Apple product, an 1st gen shuffle that I found.
I use computers a lot for work (I teach IT), including lots of Office stuff, Flash, wed design, programming, etc.
But...
At home I use a laptop. 99.9% of the time, I'm just browsing the web or using it to watch stuff on iPlayer or YouTube. The laptop lives on the coffee table by the sofa and get on and off use throughout the evening. Sometimes, I can't be arsed to boot up the laptop and so I use my Nokia E71 phone, then get annoyed at the slowness, tiny screen and clunky controls.
For all that, a small, light tablet makes a lot of sense.
Beauty of a Apple laptop mike, just shut the lid. Very rarely turn mine off.
Wish I had one to scribble on during Uni Lectures!
When can I buy one?
Sent from my iPad
if the price get translated as per the exchange rate it'll be a bargain. the usual 1:1 exchange rate will make it not so attractive.
Microsoft have also launched 3 different slate pc's look just the same as the ipad, I'll stick with my laptop thanks.

But it's made by Apple and has an achingly trendy lower case "i" as a part of the name. Must be betterer.
Just found out there's no multitasking, like the iPhone. Shame.
why would you pick this over a MacBook air laptop
Price I suspect... MacBook Air is IMO the BIG white elephant in Apple's range, limited computing power for a ridiculous price...
tommy, its just a netbook, which also has none of the advantages of a laptop, but with a touchscreen.
Yeah, that's what I reckon too... With the limited functionality of most netbooks, is it necessary they have a conventional keyboard and mousepad at all? I suspect not, and it's this that I think Apple are aiming the iPad at...
As a web broswer for your lounge or something for long flights or rail journeys I think its a winner. Also as its apple you know it will just work and work well.
Yup, again, I think Apple will have done its market research pretty well... You or I might not be the intended users, but I suspect there is a market out there that falls into the potential user market.

Likewise. Except I've got an iPhone not an E71.
The iPhone is great for checking my emails, and doing a bit of light surfing on the net, but it quickly becomes frustrating if I need to respond to emails or type anything really. And my desktop is a pain to boot up, currently my laptop gets used in this role.
It's a laptop that doesn't open, a screen that lies flat, it doesn't even do all the things my phone does, yet the muppets will insist that it's the best thing since sliced bread.
LOL
Gets me everytime a new product comes out that challenges convention everybody who says "that'll never catch on" etc... Conventions are there to be challenged... It may not be the right thing for you or me, but I'll bet there's a significant slice of a market there to be had, otherwise Apple wouldn't have created it!
Fanboi? Not a chance... I like some of Apple's products, others are completely lost on me... The iPhone I think is an example of a company REALLY getting a product spot on (for me at least) because they didn't follow conventions, but I can see why it's not for others... I'm definitely not one of those people that bores people to death with stories about it though, I do know a few people like that and they annoy the hell out of me too with their pages and pages of apps! I think I've downloaded maybe half a dozen on mine, and half of them were useless so I deleted them...
Looks to me like a photo of a tiny, wee man and his fave gadget???
What is a shame is that Apple as a company are an excellent example of how to do it well, but the fawning and overexcitement that each new product provokes acts as a definite turnoff for so many people. I, and a number of others I know, wouldn't use an Apple product on principle, unless it did something that nothing else did. Itunes is a case in point, the over engineering and DRM plus the 'we know what you want and you'll do it our way' business just annoys me.
Am I the only one who sees a paralell between the Apple Adherents and religious zealots? Unquestioning acceptance on faith alone....

Except a lot of the fanboi worshipping is evidence-based.

way to stick it to the man mon!
🙄 Not about sticking to the man, more about not falling for the hype; 6 people at work have iPhones, only 1 had worked out that you can download apps from the store before I told them about it. It would appear from my experience that iPhones get sold because they are this years big thing, this years must-have, rather than the thing that people need.
Such is the power of advertising, particularly when directed at the great British public....
can i be the 1st to post this again
apple new release
As with all of Apple's new products, the next generation one will be the one to buy. They'll have ironed out the creases and solved the inevitable issues.
To paraphrase the nice man on DW TV:
"The most hyped tablets since Moses came down the mountain"
Double thread double post. Don't people spend enough time gawping at gadgets already? I'll take the paper copy thanks rather than a poison filled box.

Maybe you should try, you might like it 🙂
LOL @ lobby dosser, that's pretty funny!
Especially liked the closing line about the Sudoku killer striking either 1, 4 or 9 victims next 😉

Yup, for a lot of people it was the latest must have gadget, mainly because of image and advertising... Which is a bit sad really!
Mine gets used for pretty much everything Apple intended. For me, the iPhone was a revolution. That's not to say I couldn't live without it, but it has improved the whole phone/pda/personal organiser/mobile computer solution for me quite somewhat.
But then I suppose I'm pretty rare in that just about everything I've ever bought, bikes included, I buy for their function and ability rather than for fashion reasons!
Dare we aske what bikes you own Maverick?
