I recently bought an ipad, when I download an app it appears on my iphone as well. (icloud I guess) but I don't want iplayer, kindle app on my iphone. Can it be turned off?

Tap and hold your iPhone screen..... the icons wibble about..... tap the cross next to the apps you want to delete.

Or, delete them through iTunes when you next sync

On your iPhone go to Settings->Store and uncheck the Automatic Downloads->Apps box.

That stops them magically appearing on your phone when bought from the iPad.

If you also sync both devices to iTunes then you need to do the same there as z1ppy's link describes.
