Most the time the spelling corrections on my iPad are okay but occasionally they choose the wrong word. Is there an easy way while typing a particular word to stop it changing it?

At the moment I type the word I want, press the space bar and it changes it to the word it wants. I then delete the word and start again at which point it doesn't seem to change it.

Not a big problem but irritating as i look at the keyboard when I type so don't notice all the changes it makes which can change the meaning of the sentence.

On one thread I typed '****ted my ankle' and it changed it to 'taunted my ankle' but I didn't notice until it was too late to edit.

As I said, not a big issue but thought I would ask the power of STW

android offers you a preferred option, plus what you actually typed and maybe some other similar words as a list of options. If you pick "****ted" it asks you if you want to add it to your dictionary for future use
I bet something similar is available for apple even if it's not standard - either via a menu or a keyboard app of some sort

(the above is using swype but I think the std android keyboard does it too)

i think you just press the little cross that appears next to the word as you type to ignore the suggestion think it remembers next time you write that word.

If you type the word into the browser search box it adds it to the dictionary.

Fopster is correct. The suggested word comes up underneath while you're typing. If you don't want it changed then just hit the 'X' in the white box.

You can also predictive text off entirely under Settings>General>Keyboard>Auto Correction.

cheers, that makes sense. I don't want to turn it off because mostly it is correct. My phone is Android with swypetype and I find that great as I can type without looking at the keyboard.
