Ep2 has just dropped and it seems to be as good as last week's. I have a really good feeling about this season.

I have a really good feeling about this season.

I would have said the same about 1&2 for the first few episodes of each season. Then I just watched the rest because lower decks wasn't on yet.

Well…depending on where it’s being shown

Just don't have that conversation on PB 😂

Vowed not to watch any more after last episode of Series 1...got drawn into Series 2 and although it was ok, again said I wasn't going to watch any more...Series 3 has started and I've got some sort of lurgy, so have watched it and going to have to now watch the whole series (I've a thing where I can't not watch the whole series).

This one seemed more enjoyable than the second series, but I'm still not holding out much hope for it. Each series so far I've not tried to avoid watching it but at the end of each of them I have thought that it was good it was over.

Probably says more about me than the show. Also waiting on Lower Decks to start as that does seem enjoyable mince and easy to watch.

Second series was pretty dull. This one seems a lot, lot, better so far.

Terry Matalas, who is showrunning it, was behind my favourite sci-fi series in recent years, 12 Monkeys, so I have high hopes.

(He was involved in the previous series, but I'm telling myself he didn't have full creative control!)

Didn't enjoy the last series all that much - lazy writing and production "let's put it in the past to make filming cheaper". Add to that let's throw in a mix of some next gen characters who don't really add to the story.

This series seems to be more of the same, appeasing the Trekkies reather than some actual good writing and story telling (although I've only seen ep1 and will give it time)..

The first series was great though.

Growing up with TNG as a kid (BBC2 6pm) I couldn't make it past episode 3 of season 1. Some things are best left to nostalgia.

I struggled to finish season 2, moreso than season 1, but will no doubt give 3 a go soon.

There was a teaser for Lower Decks S4 last month, but noting that all three previous seasons had August release dates, I think there’s a while to wait.
On Picard, having been burned by the previous two seasons, I’m passing on three. Similarly little interest in Discovery, other than Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaac’s excellent work - where’s my Section 31 spin-off, FGS?

Yep, season 2 was pretty dire, a very drawn out tortured background origin story that tbh probably didn’t need to be told/made, season 3 is the typical thing that the viewer really wanted to see and should have been made er 10 years ago when the cast didn’t need zimmer frames.

I watched ep1 last week it was ok, will continue to watch it no doubt.

The plot is going to be driven mainly by excuses to get TNG cast members to make appearances (but it's an opportunity missed if they don't get Will Wheaton in again somehow) as they've said this is the last outing.

Not sure I liked the "New constitution refit class" version of the 'Titan' what was the point of that? Could be a little too much "fan service" if they're not careful...

Gave up on Discovery, not least because I'd need another sub that I don't want in order to watch it. Being flung into the far future might have made it awesome, but It's going to have to wait for Netflix or someone to pick it up...

Good grief...watching episode 9 and they really have managed to resurrect pretty much everything from TNG!

Reminds me of the last Jurassic Park film where the entire aim of the plot appeared to be to shoehorn every old character to get them all together again.
Seems like everyone except Riker and Pickard have aged rather badly…

Main reason I watch it. The plot is pretty lame.

I have to admit I'm really a bit disappointed, the Borg are the baddies (yet again FFS!?!) And they've actually crowbarred the Enterprise D in for bonus fan service points...

Dare I say it, too much nostalgia, not enough plot?

Quite annoying that they didn’t use Voyager with all the anti-Borg modifications it had… especially after Seven brought it into the show.

You wouldn't want them to rush anywhere, or hold anything heavy for too long. Given Picard is an android he's very frail.

It does seem a bit odd given how the Borg storyline developed in the last series...

I waded through season three. I've seen worse (season two for example) but it's so very far from shows like The Expamse, or even Voyager.

Going to try to watch The Dark Forest next.

It is annoying as there is just enough of a draw to keep me coming back to watch each episode. If the Borg Queen turns out to be Wesley Crusher then I think there will be a full house of all the TNG characters back in place (other than the original security officer female - was it Tasha Yar or something?)...so the 2 androids who have essentially got the ability to outlive everyone have aged 'gracefully' to keep going with the rest of the crew. 7 of 9 and Geordie seem to be the ones that have aged very well, the rest do appear to have properly aged - which is fair enough as the actors are 30 years older than when they were first involved.

No doubt if Voyager makes an appearance then another fleet of previous characters will be trundled out (although I think there have been a couple of appearances already for some).

...and here I am, having a moan about it, but will be watching it - the joys of social media allowing me to mumble on!!!

Sorry yes I should have excluded 7 of 9 and Geordie from the ageing comment…and yes Patrick Stewart is looking a bit frail - but he is 83 years old!!

Agree - How can the borg go from being 'guardians at the gate' to destroying the entire federation? I feel like I've maybe missed something???

Given this is the last trek series Patrick Stewart is doing (I guess age has caught up with him) it was never going to be anything other than a massive fan-pleasing nostalgia-fest. And it's doing very well at that too. Who cares if the plot is a bit flaky and it's cringeworthy, the fans will love it. I was telling Mrs Daz from episode 2 that it was all heading towards the Borg. Wouldn't be surprised if Q turns up to rescue them in the next episode. 🙂

The faction of 'nice Borg' from S2 never crossed paths with the rest of the collective which Janeway defeated in the Delta Quadrant, apparently. So this is the post-Janeway, seriously weakened 'main' collective (did you see the state of the cube interior?), relying on help from the Changelings etc.

I was thinking the series worked brilliantly when it was just a changeling threat, rather than throwing the Borg in as the final boss yet again. Vadic was a great villain. They should have left it as changelings harnessing Borg tech.

But I can accept it, along with the 'getting the band back together' thing, as the final act in the Locutus story and a send-off for Jean-Luc. Still enjoying it immensely.

I was telling Mrs Daz from episode 2 that it was all heading towards the Borg.

Subtitles on Amazon Prime spoiled it in episode 2!

Well, I'm loving it. So, ner.

It’s a bit like Doctor Who in that respect - doesn’t matter where the storyline starts, sooner or later they will be in London usually about 100 years ago, and then it always ends up with the bloody Daleks…

Of the three Picard series this has easily been the poorest. It's certainly not been 9 hours of story. Worf has been my favourite character. And how many Borg queens are out there?

One fewer than when Picard started, the actress Annie Wersching died. The voice you heard on the recent episode was Alice Krige who was the original one from First Contact.

I'll get my anorak.

It is all decent 'disengage-brain-and-watch' stuff - I've watched all the Star Trek tv series and films...Picard does seem to have me questioning why I am though - each episode finishes and I'm thinking 'glad that is over...however, I need to see the next one to find out what unfolds!' - so I'm my own worst enemy with this stuff.

I watched Discovery until it went to a subscription service - that one really wasn't great, but as I'd started it, I had to see it through.

Lower Decks I do find the most enjoyable of the recent stuff, I think because it is a cartoon then I'm fine with it being 'odd'

I won't be watching the new Star Trek stuff, all this stuff despite clearly being watchable for me does feel like it is raking over old coals and trying to flesh out back stories...which will no doubt attract a whole new audience which is a good thing.

It went to a free subscription service, didn't it?

won’t be watching the new Star Trek stuff,

Brave New Worlds is enjoyable enough.

Credit where it's due though, the best Trek in years has been the last series of The Orville.

One on each Borg ship.....?

9 episodes in my original assumptions from ep1 are holding true - just seems to be an series of reunions of characters and things from Next Gen rather than an actual decent stand-alone series. Watchable but unmemorable.

Don't think so, it was removed from Prime (admittedly you pay for that but it is bundled with the Amazon package) and I think, did it not, then get moved to Paramount or some other streaming service that needed paying for...

Cleverly, I've assumed Amazon Prime was 'free' in my initial statement as I don't consider the £8 a month to Amazon is for the streaming as that is just an included part. Son having to pay for another subscription service meant it went from available to not available.

Warning, plot spoiler from deep space 9.

Don't watch this unless your most of the way through series 3.

I bet Worf regrets stopping Garek who just might be in my top 3 favourite characters of all time on star trek. Not bad for a tailor. I think the episode where they try to plant evidence and Garek just blows the ship up is one of the best episodes ever.

I also want a section 31 spin off.

I don't think Garek died in the end, would love them to shoe horn him into Picard.

@DickBarton Tasha Yar has made an appearance in this. Early on some main character was holding a cube with a hologram projecting out of it while reminiscing. The hologram was Yar.

Edit it was Data

No spoilers, but the finale sticks the landing perfectly, IMO. Enjoy.

(And if you think Terry Matalas did a decent job with this series, another plug for his '12 Monkeys', which I've strongly recommended on STW a few times.)

Watching it tonight...absolutely certain I'll be thinking 'Glad that is now done and dusted'...but then be thinking it is a shame as despite me complaining about it I've enjoyed it.

I thought it was aired on a Thursday but I checked at 21:10 and it wasn't available, so hoping it will be this evening.

Admittedly I'm rather late to this party but I finally got round to starting this last night - have they decided season 2 was so rubbish they should just forget it ever happened it or do...
S2 Spolier

(a) reincarnated random space ninja make a reappearance? (b) did the huge never before seen spacial anomaly that needed a whole fleet plus the Dr's good borg just get forgotten? (c) it's clearly to do with locutis which means bad borg (or rather it's alien resurrection style) are behind it all, what happened to good borg? (d) does Picard just wake up in the shower wondering how his cybernetic body had arthritic hands)?

Hmmm seems

Spoiler

Don't really want to spoiler it, but just forget that S2 ever happened, sit back and enjoy it like an extended TNG+ movie with some decent extra characters.

To be honest that's about the best possible outcome.
