Try Google. OS upgrade? Who knows, Android gets upgrades at the whim of whichever manufacturer is installing it. Some have upgraded, some haven't. It's an open OS after all.

happy with mine, had it around 2 months. Not upgraded to 2.2 yet but a friend of mine did with no issues

Get mine this week so fingers crossed, they read well in the reviews, I wanted the Desire but it was out of my work budget and the Wildfire seems to be a poor mans Desire so it should be good. Runs Android so all good there, the minus points are a slower processor, lowish battery life and smaller/lower quality screen.

But all in all, it should do me well 😀

No personal experience but my mate just got one from work (he already has an iPhone 4 fo rpersonal use). This was his reply after I commented on a "..has just installed the Facebook for Android application on his phone." post:

Trying to give it a fair test but so far, prefer iPhone. The Wildfire is actually a crap phone (slow, crap graphics, poor battery life). Trying to judge android though, hate the way it just automatically... puts stuff on facebook (this is an example). App Market is nowhere near as easy to look round, info on apps is limited, screen shots limited. Email program is rubbish. Silly things like you have to move an existing app on a home screen before you can put another there (why won't it move itself like ios4). Good things - syncs easy with Gmail contacts and calendar.

The OS is already Android 2.1 (eclair) and an update to 2.2 (froyo) is expected in 3rd Quarter of this year, so imminently. It'll roll out first to unbranded phones, ie one's that weren't bought from a carrier, and a little later to the branded ones.

I'm generally very pleased with mine, but not without niggles. Mine has a bug where the wifi disconnects as the screen turns off, and it also won't let me select my location as UK/English, it seems determined to place me somewhere in central Europe. Not usually a problem but some apps won't work as they are dependent on your location (Amazon MP3 app for one).

Enjoy!

I don't think its apples for apples with the iphone though, different price class, would be iphone vs desire to be fair.
