you know... those devices you breath through a few times a day to expand lung capacity.

considering splashing the cash and just wondered if anyone has used one?

not sure relevant but father in law started using one in his 60 's he was finding it difficult to play his trombone.

He found it very good for expanding his lung capacity but whether it makes you fitter i dont know
Beyond that no idea.

I got one a while ago. Had a few goes and then stuck it in a drawer where it remains.

I can confirm that it is pretty hard work to breathe through it and I could see how, with sustained repeated use, it may improve your lung capacity or strength.

But to be honest I just found it a bit of a faff.

Looked at the studies for these a while back. Non of them are any good, all the ones that show benefit do so only in patients with pre-existing lung problems and all of those are sponsored by the guys that make the machines.....

Not that I'm sceptical in any way!

You can pick up one free from the NHS. I got mine 5 weeks ago and all I had to do was stick a couple of ribs through my lung and achieve a pneumothorax.

I noticed a massive improvment over the first 2 weeks of use; none thereafter.

Ditto. If you're fit already its a total crock IMO. How often have your lungs given out before your legs?
