I use a Hauppauge Nova-T 500, in linux but it did once run smoothly under Windows (I upgraded :D)

Don't know if it's still available........had it a few years.

Hauppauge are pretty much where it's at.

This may sound obvious, but you'll need a good antenna too...same as a TV really.

Hauppauge Nova-T 500

+1

I use it under Windows 7 (with the Media Centre) and it works perfectly. Recording in the background, timeshifting etc etc.

They are also very useful if you travel a lot as with a few adapters you can get the pay tv in your hotel for free allegedly. Doesn't work on the newer on demand systems however.
